Yes, even trying to get around a filter is a warning sign - but when we get tested, pass or fail, the question we need to ask ourselves is what can we learn from it about ourselves?

As far as your friend getting magazines, another route might be to realize that he may not be ready to stop reading those magazines. And it's not your place to tell him what to do. What you can do is offer to learn mussar with him or something that can help you both grow.

OK. Clean starts from today. One day at a time. Let's go. I can't change the past I just have to worry about the present. I need to call people more often. It's a process. We're not all successful from the get-go. I can do this. Fell shmell.

Thanks go out to ur-a-jew, OTR, and SB for lending an ear. I realize that I have to call somone from the onset of triggering feelings and thoughts. A lot of the time I feel that it's such a remote inkling of a thought that I won't even know what to say when I call the other guy up. And I really don't want to tell him what I was thinking. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that I reach out. If I don't reach out I haven't admitted powerlessness yet. I haven't surrendered. Sorry to let you guys down (if I did).
