Dear SB,

Mazal Tov on your upcoming simcha... The truth is that for being kovesh aza yetzer, you should be making a massive banquet in Ateres Avraham with Woodford on tap. BUT I have to agree with Tomin and Bardy, you still have to be careful about who knows about your private challenges. I wouldn't allow myself to come b/c I'm too afraid of exposing myself...

But I definitely would be happy to drink a shot or two for you!!

PS here is my new mashkeh.. 8 year old, aged, Bacardi (rum)

Yummy...

Hey SB,

I'd like if we can connect over the phone during your party. I'd like to make a l'chaim with you!

If you're uncomfortable sharing your number, contact me at Tomim2B@gmail.com and I'll share mine.

Waiting for the big day,
2B

Thanks for all the mazal tovs...I think I've got 3 days left for 90 day-mark #1. Basically, it's from when I first signed up, before I realized all the rules of the WOH. So it's my cumulative clean days.

Thanks momo.  (they don't make smiley emoticons that represent how big the smile on my face is right now, just from your message!)

Haba - please do drink a shot of the mashkeh of your choice!

Maybe I'll just drop off a bottle of 7up and woodford in landau's?  :D Probably wouldn't do that, but I get a kick out of thinking about it!

By the way, as an aside - wouldn't anyone come to a kumzitz if they made one here?

OK, maybe we'll just do that - and that would be awesome too, don't frown! I'd love to have you participate in any way you feel comfortable! I'll PM you my GV number...

OK, this is just a possibility, but I'd welcome some advice into how to theoretically implement it.

I'm thinking of getting some woodford, and a bunch of bottles of 7up (open to other suggestions, but these seem like classics), and just leaving them in a shul - say, landau's.

Anyone outside this circle will assume it's for a yahrtzeit or something. And only the insiders will get it...

One problem is that I wouldn't be able to get there in the morning before like 9. Maybe for mincha? Or a different shul? Maybe one of the minyan factories in boro park?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Enhancements? Flames?

I think everyone typing you a lengthy and thoughfull email, to to be delivedr by PM is a nice was to make you feel a part of the 'family'

Also i would be willing  give you a call. or a video call on google. (You say things in person that you don't think of when typing, and one can hear the emotion in other people's voices)

Mybe someone can award you with a sefer, taharaas hakodesh? and incribe it in a criptic way that doesn't reveal exactly what "growth and progress" he's talking about

I don't follow your posts enough, is there anyone who knows of your addiction? Mybe this would be a good time to tell him how you deserve a mazal tov. just make shure it is the right person, and a good idea to share it with them (PS don't use anyone who will serve as a shidduch reffrence for you.....no no that's a bad idea)

Get an aliyah, if not that day than the day after.
Make a shehechiyanu on something
Make a baruch hatov vehameitiv on something.
Daven a special tefilah, how about the viduy said after yom kippur katan?
Ask your father for a big hug, without explaining why, just tell him you where working on your avodas hashem... but don't make them too curious

:D :D :D Good point...

Thanks, SA - I look forward to all those PMs! ;D Thank you for all your ideas...I'm going to think them over, and probably use at least some of them! You rock!

Hearing from you would be fantastic...I'm still not sure when I'll be celebrating, but I'll let you know, and we can trade GV numbers.

I do have one friend who knows what I'm going through - he's been really supportive. Yeah, maybe I'll do something with him to celebrate.

IT - ayin sham, not the full WOH 90 days yet, but my own personal 90 days...the other one's still got about another month. I may push off that celebration a bit, and combine it with a big siyum that I'm working on...Or maybe not - two parties are better than one!

By the way...we can't make a big party every day, but this party is a reminder of how amazing it is when we do the right thing, and how happy and proud we make Hashem. Every day is that way, and being clean for even one day is a huge victory, and worth the biggest party!

SB, a party might be a nice idea.  However, I do beleive just knowing in your own heart and mind that you have done this would be enough.  90 days is only the beginning of a long journey.  My wife told me one time, the second you start to celebrate is the second you start to forget where you want to go.  That does not mean not to be proud and want to dance in the streets.  It just means remember where you were, and where you want to go.  After she said that, I started to think about this and it's a great accomplishment but it is not at the same time.  We still have a long way to go!!

I guess the above-discussed dispute has been resolved.

However, if it resurfaces, we can all meet in person and I'll do my best to resolve it!  :D
Just as an alcoholic needs to avoid that first sip, a lust addict needs to avoid that first slip.Slip today? No way! ;)Fall today? No way, Jose'!

Sci - absolutely. If I was celebrating the end of something, you'd be right. But this isn't celebrating the end, it's celebrating how special a certain accomplishment is. The truth is that every day deserves a party.

When I make a siyum on a mesechta of gemara, I'm not celebrating an end - I'm celebrating an accomplishment, a certain step forward, a level of being complete, as part of moving forward. It wouldn't be a very happy time if I stood up and said, "OK, everyone, I've finished mesechta ksubos, and I feel I've learned enough, so I won't be learning anymore." :D

You're right - we need to remember that this is only one part of a journey. That does not, however, take away from it's value and specialness.

Kedusha - I wanted to have a get together, but no one seemed interested. So I didn't buy any woodford, and just made do with some scotches that I had lying around. If people show an interest in showing up for my WOH 90, I'll spring for a bottle...

Heck, you guys can even show up wearing face masks... :D

What I was talking about it that it is only part of the journey.  I got the rest and love the thread.  More people really need to post in this one.
