Seminal emission in the middle of a meal 20 Oct 2017 06:09 #321349

It's written in the Mishnah Berurah that if you defecate in the middle of a bread meal or if you touch a part of the body that is normally covered, you would have to wash again. What if someone had a seminal emission in the middle of the meal? Would he likewise have to wash again?

i thought you had to wash netilas any time you touch a covered part of the body with no bracha.
Do you mean wash again with a bracha?
First i would worry about washing other parts of my body...
I assume you mean a spontaneous emission and not pausing between courses for a quick five knuckle shuffle.
If the former its a nice question you should ask your local rabbi/rebbe
If its the latter I would deal with stopping to act out before worrying about whether i should say a brocha again.
Make sense?

i know you have to wash if you touch a covered part of the body with no bracha.  i'm asking if you would also do the same if you had a seminal emission without touching any part of the body

Its a good question to ask your LOR
Personally i would immediately have to take off my trousers and wash myself up which would cause me to touch parts of my body that would then cause me to have to wash my hands...
As I type this my LOR called me and i asked him.
He said you do not have to wash..
Interesting....

May i humbly request that our forum not be a place where we state our opinions about other people or issues in such a negative way.If someone receives advice or a psak you are not comfortable with, either respond in an "aidel" way or just PM directly to the person. As an aside, the term apikores is a halachic one and very big people should determine on who it should be used. I am sure there are many wonderful and ehrlich rabbis who consider themselves modern orthodox. The second adjective you used, is a very inappropriate one to use in general. The sforim tell us that to have more success with inyonei kedusha we should be very careful with our language. As they say, "The bris ha-lashon is parallel to the bris ha-maor" (another term for the mila). Please forgive me if i upset you at all. I am just requesting that we keep our rshus harabbim forums clean.

If one has a seminal emission during a meal, then the hands must be washed again.

I am not sure if a Bracha is needed though.

"Seminal emissions[4]: A man who has a seminal emission apart from sex must wash himself and is pure that evening. Any clothing upon which the semen falls must be washed as well. If a man and woman have sexual relations (v. 18), both must wash themselves and are then pure in the evening."

With all due respect, what you quoted is not talking about washing hands, it is talking about going to the mikvah because of tahara, this doesn't apply nowadays.

Colin your post was referring to the biblical requirement of needing to immerse in a mikvah.
And the first link doesnt mention seminal emmissions.
My LOR is a well respected charedi rabbi who runs a large kehilla of black hats and kollel.
He was quite clear in stating that if the emission caused no distress or discomfort there would be no requirement to immediately wash ones hands before continuing to eat.
Its a halachic question thats mainly theoretical for a few of the reasons i stated above... mainly from personal feelings i would have to change from discomfort which would then trigger me needing to wash regardless
