i once heard the following story: there was once a fellow walking with his rebbe down a street.all of a sudden, from across the street a bunch of girls were
walking and screamed across the street - hey tom, how ya' doin'? well, the boy wished he could crawl into a hole.what would his rebbe say? well, the rebbe said: 'u know, i'm a better friend than them - i wouldn't embarrass you like that!' there are many lessons in this story-

i have heard that one as well; pick a fight with her/them.
perhaps it's the right way; i don't know.
But either way, "half-measures are of no avail," so whenever you're ready to join recovery mode, you must take that big step.

as a matter of fact, this is a really good topic - because when i did my 90 days about 7 years ago, around day 70 i felt like i lost my 'best friend'.the guard wrote my story to r' twerski, and he penned what has now become famous on GYE, the story of the cocaine addict who thought the drug was his best friend.it's just i dont know how to show links. (i am a GYE old-timer-)
