You always manage to dissect the issues into such clear parts.
but in this particular case I'm afraid, that although your analysis of the problem itself was on target, nevertheless your "bottom line" conlusion does not pass the "lev yodea moras nafsho" test. Knowing myself I feel very strongly that if this "fix" of "substitute drug" is taken away from me, and I abstain from chatting here on GYE, I'll quickly fall back into my past addiction. I think what I need is some guidance from the wonderful chaverim here at GYE on how to curb my addiction to chatting on GYE rather than advising me to stay off GYE completely.

BTW Dov,sorry for not calling u last night, (at 1:30 am my time) as we made up. After "chatting my brains out" [oh do I just loooove our total freedom of expression :) ) on Motsei Shabbos, I was totally zonked out last night, and the moment I - thanx to you - left the computer to wait the half hour until u would be available - I almost sleepwalked myself into the shower and then straight to bed. So we still need to find another time to talk.

I'm going to leave it to Dov, but I think that was Dov was saying was that there are other ways of reaching out other than chat, and if you could use those instead of chat, then you'd have a much easier time breaking off of this particular flavour of the addiction.

But, I'm just speculating, not talking from experience.

You have to do what you feel will work for you. If you try something and you feel it's not working for you, try something else. But whatever you do, don't give up.

Keep your feet wet in serious recovery help of some sort, till you find what works...then grow a lot more in that until you need more or different, and then move on to more and better...that's real living!
