It is fine to be stringent about shaking hands, if one is able to, but that should not be equated with hugging, kissing, handholding, etc., where there is no Halachic basis to be lenient.

Just as an alcoholic needs to avoid that first sip, a lust addict needs to avoid that first slip.Slip today? No way! ;)Fall today? No way, Jose'!

Once on the "shluchim" and "handshaking" topic; I've heard an assortment of cute lines that Chabad shluchim have used to get themselves out of sticky situations. One that stands out in my mind is: "The last person who shook my hand donated $100,000.00 to Lubavitch".  :D

Another one: "The last person who shook my hand has 11 of my children". Now, that's bound to get a reaction!  :D

2B,

What a great line! Hope to use it.

Another one of the many bonuses of sporting a beard: Unlike a yarmulka and tzitzis which can come right off (cv"s!), the beard had made it extremely difficult for frum men to go to forbidden places without feeling awkward. I know many cases of frum people who have held out on some of their biggest temptations on embarrassment alone.
