I heard the following from R. Tzvi meir Zilberberg.

There is a great and successful individual ( there are many) who is in the field of helping kids at risk involved in all sorts of messes and problems , and hes based in the USA.
He met up with a similar counterpart of his that does the same in Israel.

When one of them asked the other what his secret was and did he have any " magic" weapons which helped him be the success that he was with the kids. He told him that he starts off with a book that is very life altering and one that he sees as achieving the best results.

The other leader was very interested as to which " secret" book that person was referring to. He proceeded to question him as to what amazing book did he discover that accomplishes so much? He was shocked to hear the answer. It was Maseches Bovo Kama.

In his state of disbelief he expressed his surprise. He suggested that of course that that was of no help to him with "his" extremely troubled kids with all sorts of addictions etc, and opined that his counterpart presumably has a group with way less severe problems and addictions than his own group.

He said - you have no idea what sort of trouble "my" group of troubled kids is.

The counterpart replied - "you have no idea what Bovo Kamo is".

I know im late but if you are still about to fall ....just remember the temporarg high is not worth it .....it seems all pointless at times but thats just the negative impact of the addictive withdrawal......just that you came here first is a big step

I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for. Firstly, just posting in itself helps me... So thats something. But I'm just looking for a shoulder to lean on I guess. I know there's no 'quick fix'.

I'm clean. B'H. But every minute is a struggle. Whiteknuckling. So Hard.

Definitely not ready to talk on the phone. But maybe one day.

Thanks laughingman for your post from a month ago. Right now I feel the urge to act out, and it's just so hard!! So you're advice to think ahead of how I'll feel after I act out, where I know that I'll regret it later, really is a big help.

Take a walk; call a friend; grab a sefer; go eat somethin'.

Or just simply ask God to help you out.
He will provide guidance and assistance.

Thanks cordnoy. In the end I did my laundry, which that distracted me for a while. Unfortunately, on shabbos afternoon I had a fall, but today is a new day so onward I go!

hello All, oh vey.. well im about to fall i started my triggers stuff. i cant take it anymore.. im not too into the SA idea. i did AA for 3 years a few years ago and it was a life saver.but im newly married a few months and my wife doesn't know my problem and she would def find out if i worked the 12 steps in SA. i haven't strung together more than 30 days in about 14 years which is when i started. and only had more than 2 weeks maybe 5 times.. i really try hard and i am someone who works on myself immensely. but i absolutely cant break this habit.. i need some help.. i had a therapist who has been telling be about GYE for a few years i finally joined about 6 months ago but haven't done anything on it yet..maybe this post is too long and belongs on the introduce page .. but either way im reaching out for help. i daven soo hard to hashem.. try so hard to look down in the street when i walk.. since lust is what gets me.. i just white knuckled 3 weeks but than i have been taking risks i cant ever imagine. i want freedom from lust. im willing to do the work.. i have had enough.. but ask me in 5 minutes and i will tell you i never want to stop cuz i need it and love it..

I feel you and it is frustrating and we want to just get rid of this problem. Sorry to say, unless you aren't an addict, it's here to stay.
