Hey there everyone, I just have a question about how to handle this situation. Don't worry I'm on the forum under a nickname, but for this question I opened this user name for additional privacy and protection. Sorry about that. And here comes the very specific issue.

I received email stating that my tablet is not secured and the sender claims he was able to record my online activity as well as access my contacts. If I follow the instructions he will delete everything. But if not.... 

(Of course there was a link. Of course I didn't open)

I'm not sure how to handle this and what steps should I take to prevent anything leaking...

if anyone is aware of this or have any experience, any knowledge, any ideas...I will be more than thankful to get. Even if it's "don't worry. He can't do anything! Hopefully. For my menuchas hanefesh...

Don’t click on any of his links. This is generally a scam email and unless he sent you proof that he has access he is just randomly scamming you.

When i received that email i was miserable for a few days, i was embarrassed to discuss it with anyone, and made my self ready for the worst... I felt so depressed, i took the courage and called my IT guy, he told me that if they have something they would've showed it to me or blocked my flies, etc. But since they are not showing anything there is nothing to worry about. Still, I was very nervous, I went to check my phone every minute if that happened,  but nothing happened.  

On that day i decided that enough is enough, i am stopping... i will not let the person in Guatemala trip on me again (suddenly i understood why hashem created these hackers in the 3rd world country's,  just to bring us to teshuva) this fear helped for 3 weeks... until I relapsed terribly... on that moment I decided to do something for real, and landed on GYE  98 days ago.

I agree with above.  This most likely scam and ignore it.  But it sounds like you can use this as a wake up call?  Are there anything you can do extra to help you fight this nisayon? 

Thanks all for your help. You did in fact relaxed me. The truth is that right away I suspected it was a scam but what made me more worried and nervous about it was the fact that they wrote my name. As for what I can do to prevent it, of course I take it more seriously now.
