was being mavir sedra - parshas shemos - and i was struck by an idea.

Moshe Rabenu spent an ENTIRE WEEK arguing and refusing the mission the RBSO had for him and was asking and cajoling him to do (see Rashi).

I don't know about you but if the RBSO tapped me on the shoulder and said "sonny boy, you will be the knight in shining armor who will liberate my people from servitude" i would only be concerned with making sure the press is duly notified of this development. Even if He would tap me on the shoulder to tell me that He wants me to daven for the amud at mincha i would not think of refusing, let alone to refuse after the RBSO tries to convince me for a week.

Seems like Moshe Rabenu was adamant and was able and willing to 'stand up' to the RBSO. And yet he was the most humble person around. All I can say is wow.

There's more. When Moshe is finally appointed and ready to go to Pharaoh he takes leave of his father-in-law Yisro. One would think that a new son-in-law who was a shepherd and suddenly was promoted to being the head honcho of his nation might drop a hint or two to his FIL to that affect, if only to ensure that the monthly check is mailed on time. But Moshe tells Yisro that he wants to go to Mitzrayim just to check on his people, nothing special, just to see how they're doing.

wow.

Funny, I was just thinking how nice it was how you checked in on me the other day, nothing special, just to see how I was doing.

What a shame that the many folks from Lakewood who are posting, lurking, and r'l suffering in silence... feel they can't out themselves here.

I'm sure, though, that if a Lakew--der heard a sincere chant to reach out via PM, he would see the life-saving value in taking such a step.

Takkonos or not.

And I'm only half-jesting in this post, by the way.
