Women are very sensitive that way. Hashem made them be like that so we men get some free ego bashing. I learned the hard way that my wife is NOT just another "friend" from the dorm. She just doesn't seem to "get" what's so funny when I make a joke on her cheshbon... A lot of tears and loud words (or paragraphs) later, and I was usually a whole lot humbler.

It took many years, but we are starting to understand each other more

You're still young... these are the growing pains. Relish them, for they will make you into a REAL man. (Especially if you can go out there to her and admit you were wrong and insensitive).
