Hi folks,

I had the day off for Labor Day, so that's why I haven't posted at all since Friday. (I only go on GYE from work. In fact, since I started working, my overall computer usage at home has gone down drastically.)

One of the most useful suggestions that my therapist gave me was to schedule regular dates with my wife. He said to look at it as an investment. He said he has seen many people who never spend quality time with each other, they are always too busy with work, school, kids, chores, whatever, and the resentment just builds up. But if you go out with each other every so often, it saves a lot of future heartache.

So lately, we have been trying to make a point of scheduling dates. We don't have an official schedule at this point, but we have gone out when we have a day off from work, or if our parents are around and we get free babysitting, or once in a while we will just hire a babysitter at night and go out. Yesterday we sent the kids to their respective places and we went out for lunch, and then coffee, and then bowling (I'm a lousy bowler). My wife thinks it was worth the money we spent on therapy just for this development .

In other news, today is כ"ח אלול, ה'תשע"ג, September 3, 2013. (We should all have a lot of כח today.) Today I am clean.

my wife's therapist said that even if you cant go out, make sure you spend ten minutes talking...just the two of you (just the two of us..na na).
I was thinkin': Can the ten minutes be accumulative throughout the day? joke.

Voting Instructions in 12 (simple, but not easy) Steps: (For voting instructions in Spanish, please click here)

1. Admit you are powerless over the election results.

2. Enter private GYE voting booth. Your anonymity, and that of your vote, are zealously protected!

3. Carefully insert ballot card upside down behind the candidate list.

4. Blindfold yourself and then spin around three times.

5. Choose the number of the avatar candidate that you would like to vote for. Multiply this number by your favorite reason to not act out, any number between 1 and 90,000.

6. Check your local newspaper to see if they endorsed the candidate that you are about to vote for. If they did, choose another candidate.

7. Using the tip of a large paper clip, punch in the hole that you think corresponds to your chosen candidate on the ballot below. (We take no responsibility for any damage caused to your computer screen in this endeavor.)

8. When you leave the polling place, help yourself to one of these:

9. The polls close at the beginning of Rosh Hashanah in whatever location you happen to be in.

10. The Official Election Fraud Board will carelessly carefully count all the votes and reach a decision.

11. The Official Election Higher Powers-That-Be reserve the right to overturn any decision made by the voters, the Election Board, or anyone else. After all, this is not a democracy!!

12. The final winner will be announced at a time TBD.

Hi everyone. Just here to update...

Today is ה' תשרי, ה'תשע"ד, September 9, 2013. Today I am clean. Baruch Hashem Yom Yom.

Hope you all had a nice Yom Tov. I know I did. I had a few thoughts about Rosh Hashana, Malchus, the role of davening in Yom Hadin, etc. I hope they were somewhat correct. I am still trying to digest it all, (the thoughts, not the food). Maybe over time I will try to share some of these thoughts with the oilam.

For starters, here's a nice vort that my Rov said the first night of Yom Tov. We eat apples in honey, and daven that Hashem should give us a שנה טובה ומתוקה. I can understand what a Shana Tova, a good year is. Everything Hashem does is good, כל דעביד רחמנא לטב עביד. But what is a Shana Mesukah, a sweet year? What does that description add to a year that is good already?

He said (sorry, I don't remember who he quoted, I wasn't taking notes!) that even though everything Hashem does is for the best, we don't always see the good in it. So we ask that our year should be sweet, in other words, that besides for Hashem granting us a good year, we should be Zocheh to see the good and the brachah in the year Hashem gives us.

כן יהי רצון

Oy vey, I had better be careful not to quote what my Rov said on Rosh Hashanah, or somebody is gonna figure out who I am!

1. My rov is not a giraffe. In fact, he is not nearly as tall as a giraffe.

2. My rov is not a Belzer.

3. If you are my rov, I'd like to see the sense of humor that you the Rov uses on the forum in your the Rov's drashos.

4. You have shared your Torah with me (and others) so I can call you Rebbi.

5. Hey, look at the bright side. At least I didn't wear the bear costume to Mincha on Rosh Hashana. We can discuss the shul's gedarim for kavod hatefilla on Purim at a later date.

and finally,
:pinch: Warning: Spoiler!

My Rov is married, sorry Rabbi Inna.

But if you want to sponsor Woodford in my shul on Purim, go right ahead!
