I just wanted to start a new thread here to track my progress.

Today is day 7 and I am doing reasonably well B"H.  I have been reading the chizuk e-mails every morning and reading the forum periodically throughout the day.

Will try and stay strong through the weekend and will bili neder be on Sunday's support call w/ Elya.

Another warrior joins the elite forces of Hashem's top commando unit!

You are taking good steps, the phone call is great and starting a thread here is a great step too. But make sure you have a strong filter, to keep the garbage far away and "NOT AN OPTION" anymore. Otherwise, these steps won't be enough. Experience has proven that in too many cases already.

See our filter section and see this article on an Arutz Sheva Blog from today.

Hi Guardureyes,

Thank you for posting this useful information.

I was wondering if anyone has experience w/ The Jnet or Koshernet DSL service.  I had heard a couple of years back that the service was terrible.  As I require access for work, it is important that the connection be reliable.  I live in central NJ.

Software filters have not worked out for me for 2 reasons.

1) I have always found a way to hack it
2) I run local Apache services on my PC for work and the filters I have tried have interfered with my development work

If anyone one has any experience they can share with filtered DSL, it would be greatly appreciated.

Called JNET and they told me that their DSL runs over one of the major carriers so it is extremely reliable.

I am signing up.

Thanks guardureyes for your impetus.  I would not have done this if not for you.

yes, Jnet is VERY good.

Ask them for their new AI Livigent software. They call it "Mehadrin". It's a new innovative software that can even remove pictures based on skin color. Let me know what they say...

hey elya - i heard a rumor that there are so many callers to the hotline from this forum that you hardly have anytime left for yourself! is this rumor true? if it is, i think this is the best news i had all week.it would be partly my fault, of course, because i keep pushing people to call.so if you want to punish me for this, i'll gladly accept!! jack

Just wanted to update my journal.

It is a bit discouraging to come back here and post after a slip when I see others doing so well.

I slipped last Sat. night and was not on the Sun. call.  I have been clean since then and currently on day 6.

I have been back and forth w/ Jnet about installing DSL at my home and hopefully can get that taken care of sometime this coming week.

I know that will not be enough, so I need to be mechazek myself.

Have a good Shabbos all.

shomer,

remember, you might have slipped, but the real test is how are you going to react to this...are you going to learn from your slip and add another piece of armor to protect yourself next time? are you not going to get down on yourself, but instead feel invigorated to take on the YH next time around?

pick yourself up and take pride in the fact that you were honest, no matter how hard it was.

i failed myself over a week ago after a record streak...i know how you feel...but this is the most important time to strengthen your will and resolve so that you can pick yourself up immediately and continue the holy work you're doing.

have a wonderful shabbos!

Shomer, ask jnet for their new "MEHADRIN" system. It's a new, innovative AI system that isn't a URL based filter but rather a "content" based filter. In less than 3 milli-seconds, it breaks down WHATEVER page you are on, regardless of the URL, into its components and checks the text, images and anything else. It can detect skin colored pixels and replace the images! It's a real break through in filtering technology and NO ONE else has it on the market. It delivers the filtered content to you in real time, regardless of URLs. This protects against all types of "loop-holes" in the standard filtering systems today.

Hi,

You can put me back on the chart.  I am on day 9.  B"H I had a better weekend.  Having Jnet really helps out.  Takes much of the temptation out and eliminates all the periphery activity (movies, video clips etc.) that leads to a slip.

I asked Jnet about the Mehadrin system and they said it was not available w/ Covad yet.

I have my filter to level 5, but permit shopping and personal e-mail.

This has been a big boost for me.  Thanks GUE!!!

Yes, jnet is very good. You did a very important step.

BTW. What does it mean "w / Covad"?

Jnet uses 3rd party ISP's to provide their service to residential customers.

Covad is 16th largest ISP in US and is used by Jnet to service central NJ.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Covad_Communications

Jnet's mehadrin system is currently not available to Jnet subscribers that are service by Covad.
