Abraham Joshua Heschel was a brilliant and controversial thinker who grew up in pre-war Europe, raised by his uncle the Novominsker Rebbe and gradually migrated to some type of Reform-Conservadox type of liberal Judaism. His books are phenomenal (not that i read them) and were very popular back in the day. Rav Hutner must have somehow seen some of his writings and yet found it fitting to admonish one of his talmidim who allegedly drank from the same forbidden fountain.
here too, anyone who knows what that picture symbolizes is obviously exposed to the same information he is admonishing against.
