I am not sure if I belong here becuase I am an "addict".

No, not that kind of addict, I am a

caffeine addict, so I can't take that first sip of...

coffee...

Oh, OK, I see you have Decaf and other non-caffeinated options. Maybe I can stick around to discuss the situation in Japan and my experiences when I travelled there.

I was in Japan 3 times. Between all the trips it was around 20 days there. My next visit is scheduled for after Shevuos, let's see what happens with that.

Japan is an incredibly formal country which among other things, many of the women there meet Rabbi Falk's standards of tznious. Also, they do not generally shake hands (unless they are Westernized), they typically bow so that is not an issue. Unfortunately, shemiras einayim when travelling is not the easiest and some of the younger generation is slipping (in regards to their dress - I'll spare you the details)

I was in Tokushima/Fukoshima (where the nuclear action currently is). From what I am following, the situation there is certainly not ideal, but far from the catastrophe its being made out to be. Tokyo itself seems safe, except that they are having rolling blackouts (due to the loss of power with the nuclear plant offline) and some train slowdowns (due to lack of power).

I don't remember if I was ever in Sendai/Miyagi (where the earthquake and tsunami hit hardest), a colleague of mine was just there. It used to be a very nice looking place.
I am not big enough to not do something I WANT to do because I know it is wrong, but I've been around long enough not to want to do many things, even though they are really enticing at the first glance.

Yeah, it sounds so exiting. When I go to a sholom zachor after coming back from trip, I can spin such intersting stories that people even get jealous. But after a few trips, it is old, tedious and and absolutely horrid. No fun at all.
