GYE is starting a Yiddish Language White Book Phone Group in the near future.
Anyone who feels they can benefit from joining or has what to offer in trying to help others who are still sick is requested to contact
yiddishphonegroup@gmail.com
- The format would be:
- Check-in in the style of live SA meetings. (Preferably using real first names.)
- Opening the meeting with reading Yiddish translation of parts of Appendix II in the White Book .
- 'Learning' the White Book the way we do a sefer. Translating every word into Yiddish.
- Trying to share personal experiences where/how we see ourselves in the words of the book.
- Real first names are encouraged, but not mandatory. (In the case of two guys with the same name, we use a last initial.)
- Everyone is encouraged to participate in the conversation - at least somewhat. (Unless the caller does not have privacy at the moment.) It will be more beneficial if everyone is 'part' of it. He shouldn't feel like he is just a silent observer.
- The stated goal of the Group is to practice being as Open & Honest as WE can possibly be.
- In order to protect our Anonymity:
- Everyone MUST introduce themselves at every Call. (The number of names will be matched to the number of participants that the system says. This will ensure that there are no outsiders listening in.)
- Prior to each prospective participant joining the Group, he must first speak to the 'secretary' of the Group to establish that they are addicts & not just 'wanting greater shemiras einayim' or simply curious.
- He already set up an account with a Conference Call number (International free local calls too). NOBODY is authorized to pass on this number. This permission is reserved for the moderator.
- EVERYTHING that is said or heard on this Call is private & should NOT be repeated to anyone!
- We should try not to mention that we are part of this Group to any outsiders - even on the GYE Forum.
- DISCLAIMER: It is important to remember that the moderator of the Call is not very far in his own Recovery yet. He is not a 'Leader', Rebbe, or a Sponsor. He is just a member of the Group with only two differences: 1) He is fluent in English & Yiddish, therefore he can translate. 2) Hashem brought him into Recovery a few months earlier then the others, so he has a small headstart in learning about the Mehalech of SA.
- As of now, it looks like the Calls will be on Monday & Wednesday Evenings about 9:30 PM EST.
