the 90 days of GYE is in halacha? 13 Sep 2010 01:22 #78227

i dont know where to put this thread so i chose here

as all of know from our welcome pages and seeing everybody elses welcome pages that one of the tactics of our fight is to reach 90 days and up until now we (actually I) thought that it was just scientific thing with the nurons in our brains cus thats what it says on the welcome page (and other places on this website).... (im in AP bio, maybe ill learn more about nurons later in the year, maybe not)
but i just had a thought and for all i know plent of other ppl here might have also had it. here i go: when we all start to say mashiv haruach u'morid ha'geshem, in halacha if a person didnt say it he must go back. if he is unsure, then it depends, if he jsut started he must assume he skipped it but if hes said it for 90 times (some say 100) then you assume that he was used to saying it and chances are that he actually did say it.
here we have an idea in halacha about doing something for 90 days making a change in a persons mind

Very true.  Although there the Hergel takes 30 days, that's the equivalent of 90 times.  (Some require 101 times; however, at least b'dieved, 90 will work).
Just as an alcoholic needs to avoid that first sip, a lust addict needs to avoid that first slip.Slip today? No way! ;)Fall today? No way, Jose'!
