My Comments on Proverbs verse 26:12 and commentaries.

The expression "in his own eyes" means that although he thinks it, he is not entirely correct. It has the same general meaning in Hebrew בְּעֵינָיו .

Eyes are an organ that can easily trick our minds .

We see something we can make of it what we want since we are only "really" looking at the superficial externals. One can look at a beautiful tree but it can be rotten inside. Only a discerning eye can see the tree is really rotten.

In the Shema Israel which we read twice a day we are told to Guard our Eyes and our Heart. Note it is the Eyes and not the Mind.

I already know promography is a very destructive, damaging poison. I do not get near it and if I did I am afraid of what my mind would tell me. Therefore it is very important to guard the eyes.

Torah study helps against the evil inclination, it gives me a discerning heart. It helps me to  understand that immodest images are bad for me.  Once I know this very well I keep away from them.

There are not many things that one can say about for certain 100% "If I remove this from my life, it will improve incredibly in many ways." Promography is one of those things. Don’t allow yourself to be fooled by it, what it promises is a fake.

Talmud Kidushin 30b. Even so did the Holy One, blessed be He, speak unto Israel: ‘My children! I created the Evil Desire, but I [also] created the Torah, as its antidote; if you occupy yourselves with the Torah, you will not be delivered into his hand."

A man that is wise in his own eyes is too confident in himself ! A fool will see the error of his ways, for he sees a man that is wrong but will not admit it. And he is willing to allow for the possibility that he is wrong.

A man is seen hesitating is not so stupid as he is sincere with himself when he does not know.
