Kosher work and shalom from Israel 03 Dec 2024 10:33 #426362

Hi. I am baal teshuva living in Israel and have not been on here in a long time so am introducing myself.

B"H, I became a frum Torah Jew in my late 40s! Hashem saved my life and found me a wife who is a tzadeket and we now live in Israel.

Basically, before becoming frum, I lived the life of a typical secular American guy who was dating and never married. Which is to say, very dysfunctional, thinking that the serial dating and drinking and everything else is "normal". Yes, "normal", unfortunately for someone not living a Torah life. To cut to the chase, soon after I found Torah and got married, all that stuff became a thing of the past, B"H.

When I came to Israel, I got a job in Israeli high-tech world (doing marketing writing). Working in high tech involves working with women who are not religious and who do not act or dress in a tnius way. Women would flirt with me or try to be overly social or they would be dressed in ways that are definitely not tzius and I did my best to make a kiddush Hashem.

I wanted to quit right away but decided to stay and just do my best with the situation. I prayed to Hashem to help me find kosher work. Well, to make a long story short, after two years working in that environment, I am now out of work and looking for a job, asking Hashem to help guide me.

So, I am doing my hishtadlut and telling everyone about my situation. I am looking for writing jobs, but am open to anything that would allow me to work in kedusha, either as part of a team of frum guys doing something good for the world that allows me to make a good salary, or perhaps finding a job that allows me to work for myself from home.

So, if anyone has any advice, please let me know. I live in Jerusalem and am originally from the States. I have a bachelor's degree from a "prestigious" liberal arts college (that time would have been much better spent learning Torah), I am good with computers, have run my own business, and am good with people.

Thank you so much.

And sending good blessings to everyone. May you find incredible joy and pleasure in serving Hashem--and may Hashem give you strength on your journey.
