Daniel22, is this all you wanted to know?
Let us hear what's going on with you, buddy, how's your struggle going?
It's OK to tell us even if it's not going do well, we all have been down before we got up.
Baby steps.
If the road is pulling you down, it's a sign that you are going uphill, so just press harder on the gas!

Have a great day - unless, of course, you made other plans.

BTW, I get the feeling that there are quite a lot of chabadniks on here... Anyone else want to say hello?

Maccabee asked me to comment that he is also part of the Chabadnik Club.

at first I was apprehensive about dragging the Rebbe's holy name down here with us and took offense to someone with "chabad" username.
But since then:
1. I realized that this place is koidesh kodoshim and the Rebbe would be may have been proud of us for putting up a good fight.
2. If When we win, it will be a Kiddush Lubavitch in addition to other great accomplishments.
But it does pain me that years of Tanya just went by me and some others without the proper effect. I guess we can write it off to sickness...

Affirmative action on GYE? The integration of all different haskofos on GYE promotes unselfishness and openmindedness. And we addicts are the most selfish people. We can use any kind of anti-selfish methods.

Dear 'obormottel' thank u for asking about my situation. Bh I'm doing very good with the 90 days I'm by my 18 day!! But since I came in the middle of the 12 step program I'm a bit los with it but I'm getting better. I feel that I really need it. I'm just holding myself back from doing it but sometimes I'm about to fall ch"v. Hopefully will get thru it.
Have a k'siva vachasima tova!!

Excellent of you to share! :D
I am not a meyvin on the 12 steps, nor a huge proponent of them, but it seems that you should work them in order, so maybe if you have  sponsor, you should tell him too, that you find yourself in the middle of 12 steps and a little confused. Or you can share your confusion on the forum here, and we'll be happy to help you sort it out. Guys here are great at that, they all have been there and they're all sages.
Day 18 is chai, so now you're truly alive! Keep it up.

I didn't know any Rebbe would only intercede for members of their dynasty.  All this time I was thinking they only see Yidden crying for help, not a shtreimel or a bosoleno.

Never mind a separate thread for Lubavetchers.  Every once in a while i'm touched when a gentile comes to the thread and we all run to support and help.  But maybe they'd rather have a special thread just for them.  but then I'd miss so much love.

Maybe not such a good idea.

Exactly. Let's give Daniel his thread back, and we can all share the love throughout the forum.

"Raising the Kedusha in Our Homes"

Assifa in Crown Heights

Tomorrow there will be a big assifah in Crown Heights under the banner "Raising the Kedusha in Our Homes". GYE had a hand in preparing the material and speakers for the evening. Among the various speakers there will be a video presentation of Rabbi Twerski, and one of our top filter gabai'im (a certified computer technician) will be speaking about how to best protect computers.

To see the Flyer for the event, click here.

I dont want to downplay anything but please all of you keep in mind that the doiros before us never had to deal with the open pritzus that we have to deal with.  I remember seeing and being introduced to my first magazine in a yeshiva dorm !!!  I was too embarrassed to admit to anyone and so the problem was kept hidden and of course escalated to movies, etc

Today with a few clicks on a keyboard its right there. We may have progressed to sickness and certainly need to work hard on guarding eyes but dont be so down on it. Our parents nor grandparents were never confronted as we have been with so much znus.

The Tanya opens with dont be such a rasha in your own eyes, we must stay positive ...

I grew up with lots of Mussar and had no use for it the way it was delivered.

Found Chasidus which made me feel at home and not so judgemental so I joined Chabad, but these days I look for and learn both and they complement each other very well.

in my opinion the Litvishe should learn some Chassidus and the Chabadniks should learn some Mussar as well.

I Love Rabbi Reisman, Rabbi YY Jacobson, Rabbi Avigdor MIller etc, all Holy

You need both "sur me'Ra, VaAseh Tov"

Where is Daniel?
It was "shogur b'piv" of the Lubavitcher Rebbe to say: "it's brought down in Kabbolo, Mussor, and Chassidus" or "Sifrei Mussor and Chassidus are full of this concept".
At the same time, there is no doubt that often chassidus and mussor take different approach to a particular issue, and one needs to pick the derech boi ya'avor.
