See Medrash Tanchuma in parshas Vayeishev, on the passuk ויהי אחר הדברים האלהAt the end of the piece the Medrash it says: The meforshim on the side explain that if not for the words of Hashem to chava והוא ימשול בך, the women would have the power to seduce men at will. I'm taking out of this medrash that Hashem stopped them from having the power over men to just force them into the act in the middle of the street. But they still have an awesome power over us. And if we stand together, and stand strong, how great is that! And when we have those burning desires, and we only wish if only...know that that's the story of being alive! That's the way Hashem created us. It's up to us to control how we act, and together we will prevail

So this begs the question: Why did HKBH make the nemesis so powerful? Why did he create a game we can’t win on our own?! Surely it would make more sense to put us in a game we CAN win, rather than in an אלמלא הקב״ה עוזרו לא יוכל לו situation?

There’s an incredible Ohel Yaakov (Dubno) in Parshas Vayeshev that’s worth learning. Punch line is that this way we consistently are given the opportunity to strive for and receive help in RISING ABOVE the limits of our nature.
We are tested beyond our limits. We actually can’t win. But when we try He helps us get there. Then we are greater than we could have ever been before.
HKBH made the adversary so powerful because that is how WE become ever greater. That’s how we climb out of the petty confines of our own limited selves and become elevated and otherworldly!

Hashem made lust so strong so that we can each grow ourselves a monstuh tow truck, in other words.

A thought I heard from our dear friend Reb IWLR: Sometimes maybe the finish line is beyond us, maybe we can't really win, but our test is this: will we still do whatever we can?
Deep words from a deep thinker

I love this thread so far. Lets keep finding those Gamaras and Midrashim.
It helps me to know that the greatest Tzadikim also had this YH.

Lets not forget about Yosef Hatzadik, who is Named Tzadik because of his battle with this YH.
Remember that Yosef was actually ready to give in!!!
He finally had enough and was ready to go all the way, thats what the g'mara says....
He was only saved after he saw Yakov Avinu from teh window and stopped at the very last moment..... Holy Father in heaven!!! Yosef Hatzadik!
The G'mara also says that it was too late i dont want to trigger anyone here......
But on face value we would think that Yakov should be called Tzadik since he never saw 1 drop of impurity and he got married in his 80's.
But no, Yosef is the Tzadik because he stopped when its murderously hard to stop.... he didnt care how much pain it will cause him, he know that its wrong and ran out of there not a second too soon.

Thats my lesson for today guys.
