50+ knot gale wind forces were lashing at our Ship today.  I don't know if any of us were left on the top deck today.  Most of us are running to battin down the hatches and find shelter.

What type of hurricane force is threatening to ruin our pina-colada-sipping-calm cruise?

What are we so fearful of?

The Big Book asks us - are we READY to at last abandon ourselves UTTERLY over to HIM????

Not 80% over, Not 95% over, Not even 99% over.  The Program wants us to abandon ourselves 100% to Him!!

Don't I get to keep something, just a little bit of me?  NO!!

Why is this commitment so important?  Because we are totally shifting gears now in our Program.  We are launching out on a course of vigorous ACTION.

Up to now, all 64 prior pages that we've read and all 26 Days prior to now have been preparing us for this day.

This is the Day that you are jumping out of the airplane with just a parachute on your back.  Sure, you've practiced (on the ground).  Sure, you've Admitted that you want to do this.  And you've Believed that it's safe to jump.  And yes, you've Decided to strap on the chute and follow your leader's instructions to JUMP.

But now the metal door at the back of the big transport plane is open... The deafening sound of the rushing air thru the cabin has got your heart racing...(thump, thump -- thump, thump)  You look around you and you see your buddies shaking in their boots - looking at you to see if you're crazy enough to leap out of the plane...Your goggles are snug on your face, you check your chute one more time, you go over the memorized instructions again and again in your mind, knowing the dire consequence of what it means to mess up.  (thump, thump -- thump, thump)  This is serious stuff.  Your life is on the line.  This aint practice no more.  This is the real thing!

You step up to the door because now it's your turn.  It's too late to turn back.  Your heart is thumping so hard in your chest, you think it's going to explode.  (thump, thump!! -- thump, thump!!)  You see only clear blue sky outside and 8,000 feet between you and the ground.

The instructor looks at you.  He makes you look at him.  It's too noisy to talk anyhow.  And there's no turning back.  He directs your attention to the light stack at the side of the door.  The light is red - now it's turning yellow - ARE YOU READY???

Now it's turning GREEN --- JUMP!!!!
