ויושע השם ביום ההוא את ישראל מיד מצרים וירא ישראל את מצרים מת

The yeshua and salvation of the yidden was the fact that they saw the Mitzriyim as dead, anything connected to their culture and way of life was 'dead'

It would be easier for me to believe that all the seven seas dried up than to imagine that a Yid who can sing would not do so on Shabbos.

Parshas Beshalach

ולא נחם אלקים דרך ארץ פלשתים כי קרוב הוא
קרוב לשוב באותו הדרך למצרים, ומדרשי אגדה יש הרבה, רש"י

If you travel that path you might end up back in Mitzrayim,
that's enough of a reason to avoid it

ומדרשי אגדה יש הרבה
there are many fancy philosophical discussions about it

just don't do it

KEEP ON TRUCKING

By:bardichev

This dvar Torah is dedicated to my good chver Zemiros Shabbos

May he see bracha vihatazlacha in all his endeavors

The place:Somewhere near Egypt

The time:chol hamoed
Pesach

The yidden are trapped in the deset

The Egyptian Cavalry all of it and all their legions. The entire Egyptian army are bearing down on the Jews
The jews are between a rock and a hard place

The only place they can go is forward

Slight issue homo-sapians are not amphibians.

What is there to do

No retreat
No where to turn

So the Jews do what Jews always do they pray!

Gevaldiggggg??

Nisht!

Hashem says why are you screaming

??

Speak to the people and tell them to get moving

YAYISOO-ee (vayisa-uu)

KEEP ON TRUCKING!!

Fregt bards

What was wrong with prayer?

There is  a huge lesson here

Huge

When facing a personal challenge

We can't say

I tried

I cried

I prayed

No no no

Do something posotive

Drive forward

Even if it means jumping into the sea

Vayisa-uu!!

Too often I see here on the forum. People are haunted by their own demons

Leave them behind you!! Ayyy they are chasing you?! Just keep on trucking!

Of course tefilla!but like Hashem says tefilla plus action

Like the Rupshotzers kugel

The rupshizer roov reb naftali horovitz talmid of the (chozeh)Lubliner

His rebbetzin was a bit stingy but a big tzaddekes

So she made a small kugel one potato. A small onion.  She put it in the oven. Took out her tehillim and began to daven that the kugel should "gelung"

While she was davening. The rebbe. Grabbed a sack of potatoes some huge onoins a dozen eggs. A jug of oil. Salt feffer ahhh

He added his rebbetzin bite size kugel to a huge kugel for all the chassidim

The rebbetzin finishes davening

Looks into the oven and beams as she says ,
Naftali lOok my tefilla worked!

The rebbe says "yes your tefilla along with my massim tovim"

Keep on trucking

With

All

The

Love

In

The

World

קול דודי הנה זה בא מדלג על ההרים מקפץ על הגבעות

A person may think that the times in his life when things are clear, davening and learning and avodas Hashem are going just right and everything makes sense are the times that are precious in Hashem's eyes. After all he feels like he's riding high and might just be the next Baal Shem Tov (or Vilna Gaon if you will). All the holy seforim were talking about him and his madreigos and he could hear the flapping of the angel's wings if only the fellow two seats away would stop yapping on his cell phone.

Those times never last. They come and are gone before long and the daily grind sets in and we struggle to remind ourselves that we are here to attach ourselves to Hashem and not just coast along through eating working learning davening kickboxing etc. We face struggles and challenges and we get befuddled and confused.

At the 'low' times we try and talk to Hashem, try and stay away from lust, from doing/talking/seeing the wrong things. It's often hard. We push and fight and struggle. It seems that everyone else has it easy and we are just hapless losers. We cannot lust like a gentleman, we cannot afford the second look at the person who caught our eye, we cannot afford to look at pictures that are not considered explicit by most standards.

Hashem says: "In my eyes your high times are not what count, when you feel like a million bucks and everything is falling into place is not when i feel that you are mine. It is when you are down and dirty, in the trenches, slogging through the mud, talking to me and keeping me in mind and sacrificing for me that count. That is what i cherish and treasure. I 'skip' the high times. I look for the 'low' times. That is where you shine."

the mishna in meseches middos say that in the kodesh hakedashim they had an "atic" that when it was necessary, they would lower worksmen in these box type things to do repair and not see the majestic kodesh hakedashim. i dont know about you, but to me when i think about the holiest place on earth, why should hashem allow any type of damage to happen. it should always be in 100% perfect condition! understand the problem?

so there really isnt any problem here. we have this idea that when there is kedusha, it meens that there is not even anypossible place to have a fall. kedusha meens im by myself all day. kedusha meens that there is no mistake, no room for the tinest amount of failure, no room for any physical thing
so the kodesh hakedashim comes and tells us, ME the holiest place on earth has physical limitations, room for not being perfect, so does that meen im not holy? NO IM JUST AS HOLY. the only thing is that when there is something to be fixed, then go fix it!
so we here, we are the holy of holies, ok, we have our things that we must pt work on. but we have to be like the kodesh hakedashim and learn that despite the things we must work on, we are still the holiest of the holies!

Parshas Yisro - Torah While Traveling

וישמע יתרו כהן מדין את כל אשר עשה וגומר
מה שמועה שמע ובא? קריאת ים סוף ומלחמת עמלק, רש"י

Why does Rashi ask what Yisro heard? the pasuk says he heard everything that Hashem did to the Mitzriyim.

The Jews experienced at Krias Yam Suf things that nevi'im did not experience. The said "zeh keli ve'anvehu" as if pointing to Hashem with their finger. How then did Amalek, who came shortly afterward, think he could corrupt them with his influence? He reasoned that since the Jews were not "at home", they were traveling, they would not feel as obligated and committed by their spiritual knowledge and experience. Which turned out to be true to a certain extent.

Yisro could have sent a message to Moshe asking that he send someone to come to Midyan, where Yisro lived, to convert him and teach him Torah and Mitzvos. The question Rashi is asking is what prompted him to come to Moshe, מה שמועה שמע ובא, what caused him to leave his home.

Yisro wanted to accept the Torah while away from home in order to pre-empt and negate the tactic used by Amalek. The Jews as a people also accepted the Torah in the desert and not in Eretz Yisrael for this reason, so that a person should not think that when away from home he is not obligated as much as when he is settled.

Simcha

Simcha is the key to parnossa (sustenance) both for the body and for the soul. That being so, when the Yetzer Hara sees that there is an opportunity for a person to elevate himself he brings the person to depression or strife.
