this thread will be an accountability thing similar to the 90 day thing, with the checking in of "still clean" or "had a fall" but with chat rooms.  the rules are you are not allowed to go into any chat rooms or any sites where they match you up with a random person to chat with.  you are not allowed to contact any girls unless they contact you first or they are on your buddy list, and you're not allowed to buddy list any girls unless they contact you, but you're allowed to add a girl to another screen name if she is already on the buddy list of a different screen name.  you can only contact a girl not on your buddy list or that didn't contact you if you have a legitimate question to ask them about something that you need to know.  and you are not allowed to go to any "game" rooms like the Yahoo game rooms where people play games with each other.  not allowed to go on any 1 on 1 chat things like askmoses.com, unless you have a legitimate question to ask.  no going on multiplayer rpg websites like torn, unless to check email.

This sounds like you are trying to make a kabbalah but you are leaving enough exceptions to make it bearable for you. How about no chat rooms period? Unless you can explain me why it is so important that you are part of one?

Please point out to me where I said that any chat rooms are permitted, because I said no such thing.

Maybe I'm not the biggest lamdan, but you allowed chat rooms where you are not randomly paired with sombody.

you allowed contact with girls as long as they conttact you first.

Or are already on your buddy list.

But of course that's only allowed if you have an important question to ask.

Now if you meant to say that all chatrooms are forbidden, a thousand pardons for misunderstanding you.

i think you made an uncalled-for diyyuk in my words.  i said that any chat rooms were forbidden, including those where you are randomly paired with someone.

Guys, there are big enough problems in the world and with ourselves. We dont need to argue on a Diyuk here. Whatever was meant wasnt necessarilly said or maybe it was. It doesnt matter. The point is that this is someone who recognizes the absolute for change for the good. It wasnt MZ"L or bad Hirhurim that destroyed the second Beis Hamikdash, it was Sinas Chinam. There's one area in Halachah whcih we have exceedingly difficlut times controling ourselves. Sinas Chinam is not under that category. So lets just take what we have abd run with it. Together.

Chazak, Chazak, Venis'chazayk...

That’s the right attitude. Keep on trucking, Don’t look back, Just occasionally in the rearview mirror (when you feel that you will never fall again  )

I have been trying really hard to keep away from this thread as it seems my imput isn't welcomed, but may I suggest in the politest way possible that you endeavor to do more then announce your falls and the beginnings of your new clean streaks?

Somebody on this forum (I forget who) has as their signature "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." A quote from Albert Einstein.

Maybe try to work on the 12 steps or some other program to help you overcome this addiction?
