I don't need to tell you this but working on lowering your expectations about sex, sex, sex, is going to increase the amount of time you think about, sex, sex, sex. And that's not  going to be very successful.

But if you work on increasing the amount of time you think about G-d, etc. You will have less time to think about sex and it will lower your expectations too.

I'm starting to feel like a bible thumping evangelical preacher.

Many here (and elsewhere) have advocated an attitude that sounds exactly like what you mean, I guess: "Focus on the shtus and evil of it until you convince yourself that it's not for you." Gevalt. That is needed, surely, at times. But there is so much living to do - our preoccupation with it needs to be substituted with something really good. Like real life. And if real life sucks, we need to find out about G-d, cuz if that's how we feel - we obviously are not with Him yet.

Even if Dov had a "slip" and posted the above, it was worth it for such pearls of wisdom!!  ;D

There is no one on this forum, and I doubt there ever will be, someone who embodies the true spirit of the "Recovery+Being-a-Yid" like Rabbeinu Dov.

We miss/(missed?) him.
