Recovery isn't always easy. And being in recovery doesn't mean we have smiley faces all the time. There are times when I'm sad, when I'm angry, when I'm hurt, when I cry.

And if I remembered one day at a time, I'd probably be happier.

Good to hear you are still alive and feeling stuff - whether the feelings are "right" or "not"!

And as far as the remembering ODAAT (one day at a time), it really is not an option or luxury. It's just reality. So when I forget that, I figure it is just as silly as forgetting about Hashem, gravity, that it's Shabbos (on Shabbos), or that I need to wear my pants to go out of the house (I live in a very proper area of town, where pants are necessary most of the time).
We remind eachother of simple facts. Thats what I do as an addict: forget simple basic facts of life....nu. BH for recovery and chaveirim like you!!

No joke, there were a few years in my life when I believed that wearing pants was indeed optional, so I often didn't.

No elaboration there, sorry.

Now smile if you like, weirdo.

@dov -

you are too funny!

next thing you know you'll telling us, you also used to wear sandals - or walk around barefoot!

reminds me (true story) - when I first came to Israel, I wanted a pair of the nimrod sandals (why? who knows. because everyone else had a pair  i guess). Clerk brings me ONE shoe... tells me to try it on.

hmm...ok?

clerk asks me if it fits ok ?

hmm..well yes?

clerk asks me how I want to pay for it?

hmm.. perhaps I can try the other shoe on, too?

clerk: sorry dont have it. come back in a week or two, we are expecting a shipment of the other shoe, then.

lol!
i figure there must be a mashal here somewhere about addictions.
maybe as addicts we are always waiting around, idly clicking here and there, just waiting for "the other shoe" to come in, so we can feel complete. When in reality - all we need to do is pick ourselves up, and go to a DIFFERENT store!

btw - In case you are curious how the story ended.. I did not buy the shoe.

I'd say Me3 but that would make for a rather odd looking group.
