Amen, thanks..getting there. V'hayotzei midvareinu is this: The flood in our house is and only is an opportunity to express Hashem's Will for us and for me - my recovery is first in His Will for me.

So I called for my son to help me last night after I had bailed out tons of water outside in a window well that flooded twice and then came to water in the basement...I was not serene at all. I was sad and not looking forward to the clean up and the lack of sleep and the darkness, and the cold...and "Poor me, poor me, pour me a drink" happened! I lost it with my boy when he took too long to come - when he did not help exactly as I instructed him - when he kept (accidentally) shining his flashlight in my eyes as I was walking back and forth with spilling buckets of water - and when he was then upset with me being such a jerk.

Whew.

I made amends with him as soon as I could last night and took a break from the eisek. Went to sleep on good terms and not fuming, thank the Good L-rd. Boruch Hashem this is where my battle lines are drawn. For if not, I would be reacting to his screw-ups by yelling at him, making a total fool of myself, feeling terrible and even angrier, and then going to get the desperate relief I needed by getting private, unzipping my pants and having sex with myself - or passively-agressively demanding sex (and more passionate sex) from my wife. And incidentally, my timing would be horrible, for the very biggest turn-off to sex for my wife is when I act like a big, fat jerk! And that's when I would need it the most desperately!

Gevalt.

Thank-G-d for Recovery, for the steps, for the goying in SA who I met and taught me that this is possible, and for Hashem for hatching His plans for me to find recovery even while I was very busy on my knees masturbating in the bathroom to pornography! That's real love.
