I don't know if anyone remembers in my just beginning young thread i wrote that i changed my password and made it random so i would not be able to pass the filter. well i have a virus on my laptop and the password is needed to get rid of it so my parents just figured out i changed it. they don't suspect that i did it for the reasons that i did they just thought i wanted to make it more secure and that i made a really dumb move. "there is no cure for stupidity" i am really afraid though because in order so that he can retrieve the password my dad is going to hack in to my laptop and get rid of all my passwords and i do not know if that means that he will find out about GYE or not. i am really afraid he will!

Yes, that would be scary to anyone involved in discussions about these things. Hopefully he won't discover your private struggle. But even if he does, there are lots of worse things that a son could be doing than participating in GYE. And I never saw anything negative in your postings about your parents, in fact I saw only your positive feelings towards them.

This old story may put things in perspective:

A father passing by his teenage daughter's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was neat and tidy.

Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the centre of the pillow. It was addressed "Dad". With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands:-

Dear Dad,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you, but I'm leaving home. I had to elope with my new boyfriend Randy because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you.

I've been finding real passion with Randy and he is so nice to me. I know when you meet him you'll like him too - even with all his piercing, tattoos, and motorcycle clothes. But it's not only the passion Dad, I'm pregnant and Randy said that he wants me to have the kid and that we can be very happy together.

Even though Randy is much older than me (anyway, 42 isn't so old these days is it? ), and has no money, really these things shouldn't stand in the way of our relationship, don't you agree?

Randy has a great CD collection; he already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. It's true he has other girlfriends as well but I know he'll be faithful to me in his own way. He wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too.

Randy taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and he'll be growing it for us and we'll trade it with our friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Randy can get better; he sure deserves it!!

Don't worry Dad, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren.

Your loving daughter,
Rosie.

At the bottom of the page were the letters " PTO".

Hands still trembling, her father turned the sheet, and read:

PS:
Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at the neighbour's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than my report card that's in my desk centre drawer. Please sign it and call when it is safe for me to come home.

I love you!

Your loving daughter,
Rosie

Well, FYI, I just got a virus, too. First on my new laptop last night, this morning on my old one. Passed thru 2 different antivirus....

I have unplugged my modem- maybe you shlould, too.

I just read that moshul to my teenaged daughter who tried hard not to laugh through her big smiles... so there must be some truth there.

Even if your dad did find gye or rehab my site etc-- it's not so bad. Really. I would rather find my son here than not here if he thought he needed it. (Better than at the pizza shop parking lot, I figure.)

Don't sweat it.

No, no, CA. What I think Guard meant is that the Forum's servers were infected with a script that made GYE take down the server. And the script gave some of us a virus. So it's not USERS who gave the Forum a virus, it's the FORUM's servers who gave US one. (Perhaps called a se*ually transmitted disease?

So, no need to feel guilty: I think we were innocent victims and not innocent criminals.  Right, Guard?

And PS: wasn't there something _else_ that folks were telling you not to feel guilty about? Let me just say that I don't consider guilt to be a Jewish value. You can give it up for Lent, maybe.

I did understand what he said. i did not explain why i was nervous in my reply very well. what i was saying was that because i possibly got the virus from GYE i thought that when my dad was fixing my computer up it would lead him to GYE. i don't feel guilty about anything i did not do anything wrong. i am glad GYE was able to fix there problem though.

What happened when you got the virus? How do i know if I have it?

I scanned my computer and it came up clean, but I'm worried because no antivirus is perfect, and I had gotten one of those weird screens where it flashes that you've got a virus, and you need to "click here to get rid of it!!" etc. I closed the window as quickly as i could, but I'm not sure if that means I've got the virus...?

that is the one i am talking about. has it come again? by the way i also did a scan and it said there was no problem so do not go by that. my dad put Malwarebytes' Antimalwre on my computer as well as a cc cleaner. you should try and fix what you have but i am certainly not going to tell you what to do i have no idea!

CA: I was making a veiled reference to an earlier thread about wet dreams, where the bottom line was that an involuntary noctural emission was not an aveirah, that it caused no tumah (in today's definitions), and was "NO CAUSE FOR GUILT."

Does that ring any bell?  Sorry I was so opaque about it.

SB: I had a virus on two different laptops; kept getting rude popups telling me I had a virus and unless I paid $1000 to some Nigerian princess I would never see my data again. CA and his dad are 100% right:  my tech guys said Malwarebytes' Antimalware (free version) was the ONLY thing for this particular virus, and that it can pass through even the best of protection.  If you don't have popups, you're safe.
