I'm posting to keep this thread toward the top - if you haven't posted yet, I think you should - I'll say it again, this forum has helped me grow in ways I would not have thought possible.

SB, I must tell you, that this exact post means a lot to me.  I do not think I would have completed the Good bye letter without you writing these words.  Thanks because I was stuck and this got me through.

Not sure how I helped - but I'm glad I did.

And to all you Guests reading this - that's another wonderful thing about this site. Without even realizing it, you can help someone out, help them move forward in life...it's not just about getting, it's about giving, too (and if you've read my thread, you'll see that Sci has been there for me lots of times, too).

Actually, it was the word grow.  It made me realize that if I didn't finish it, I wouldn't grow how I want to.  It was exactly what I needed at the right time.  And your right, sometimes you can write something and think, OK, I just helped myself but it really helps someone else too.

truth is, this is something we all need to realize - guest and citizen as well - it's not just the long deep posts that can cause a significant impact on someone's life. A short post, a few words, a sentence or two, at the right time, can make all the difference in the world.

all Bards has to do is write woodford and I get a laugh.  So many excellent threads and so many wonderful people.  Thanks SB keeping this thread lively.  I wish more people would join in here.  One word or one sentance could be the thing that a guest reads and joins and changes there life.

If from the US, I just felt like the Jerry Lewis telethon.  the more you give the more you help.  A great saying for our members to remember.  It doesn't matter what you give, if it's time or money.  Just give!

Posting takes you out of isolation. As much as you feel you may gain by simply reading and watching,
becoming a part of the group healing process improves your personal chances of moving beyond this addiction.

7UP and IT25 thank you for that.  I think sometimes we forget that we are a part of something bigger.  It helps all that are here, even guest too.

As a "guest" but occasional poster, I would like to add my two cents.  I find these forums very big that for a newcomer or occasional visitor its very easy to get lost.  Unless your very involved in certain conversations, a newcomer may just be too overwhelmed and turn away.  Maybe I am a das yachid, but just wanted to pu this out there...

100%.  Myself I barely follow any threads, other than the 'anouncements' , 'un-important threads' and Silent Battle, and of course anything related to PR/Publicity. Unless there is a new thread that peaks my interest. I don't know much about blogs, but i think we may have gone wrong somewhere.  Mybe we should plaster the first page of 'break free' with all the relevant threads, which receive relevant responses, we wanna give a \godd first impression on the BIG day (this weekend, when mishpacha publishes our website (ok it's the "program", but it will bring people to our website)

An important point - I think that a useful approach is to 1) post a thread in the "introduce yourself" forum, and use that to, well...introduce yourself. 2) Check out the "break free" and "wall of honor" forums, and read a bit, reply, and enjoy!

That would seem to be a good way to get involved in things.
