chazal say, nechos darga venasiv itsa.
i always thought this referred to social status not intellect...
The way I understood it was, that part of our journey in this world is to learn "bitul" of our "sechel" to Hashem, and the best way to learn that, is to live with someone who thinks different than us, and perhaps not as intellectual and "deep", and yet we lower our own sechel, marry a woman of lesser depth, and learn how to build a relationship based on sharing and giving, and not based on the enjoyment I have in conversing with her and exchanging deep thoughts. That's why "nechos darga" is chazal's advice to us. It is
good for us to marry someone lower than our intellectual level (which was probably the norm for most women in chazal's time, since they didn't have the same schooling as men).
P.S. Hon, if you're reading this, I'm not talking about YOU!
