Dear Neshomo Kedosha, 

I am not late to the party, i missed it entirely. I have nothing to add as the wonderful yurgerliet here have come out in the droves to support you. 
I will only say that most of us have the same questions when we begin this journey. I know i had. 
But once you will start working on this issue in earnest, you will learn things about yourself and about your relationship with Hashem and they will make this question go away. 
You know what this Dor is all about? Yesod. Which is the Sfira of connection, unfortunately the dark side also got a boost in that area and therefore the struggle. But we can learn how to use it correctly.

Connecting to Torah and Tfilla
Connecting to your wife and kids
Connecting to other yiden with kindness
and all other holy ways that Hashem wants us to connect. 

When you will go thru this process and fight the YH on every turn, I promise  that will see the light in this seemingly dark tunnel!
