How YOU help me without evening knowing it! 10 Jul 2024 23:45 #416841

So listen up!
Today is day #12 for me.
My plan was to go drive an hour n a half away to a trade show with my wife.
Circumstances changed and I had to go by myself.
I thought to myself even though in the past when I'm away I stop at a strip club this time I said to myself  'it will be different'.

However the show ended early, I had plenty of time on my hands
and I'm familiar with the area,
I am tempted, even drive by the place but I quickly realized - 
How am I going to explain this to "the guys". 
"Makes no sense - either you are serious about this or not - at least make the effort to put up a fight"

I drove right past, came home to a nice supper and the satisfactory completion of Day #12

To those of you who responded to prior posts and those that just read them..YOU all make a difference.
Knowing that you are there, actually concerned and struggling yourself - I felt a sense of obligation to the group.

Amazing! I can totally relate to the feeling of being away from home and therefore somehow allowed, or even entitled, to otherwise forbidden behaviors. Overcoming these hurdles are huge leaps in your success.

Just realize that these locations that you pass will continue to be a trigger every time you pass them. A wise person once compared this to a Baal-Teshuva who used to eat at Mcdonalds, even years after he's frum, he continues to be triggered by passing a McDonalds. But what this really means is that he earns schar/merits, every time he passes a McDonalds while the rest of us don't.

What you wrote about being motivated by the guys is 100% true, having a sense of accountability can be your greatest tool in finding success in this fight. 

I can't recommend enough reaching out to Hashem Help Me. His accountability program has been the difference maker for me as well as many others here.
