Doesnt everybody want to be inspired? Isnt our answer for everything, "Im just not motivated"? Well lets get some! (This should be an ad in the BP)
Bottom line is, here is a thread for some inspirational stories, vorts, ideas, or lchayims. Also if anyone feels the need for inspiration in a specific area put it here!
To start off.
There was once a woman who ran the sales department of her husbands diamond business. She would travel throughout Europe with the material, and sell it to large companies for a significant profit. One day a client requested an enormous amount of merchandise. While nervous about the responsibility of ensuring the safety of her merchandise, she was much more exited about the profit of the massive sale.
She arrived at her inn and laid out all her luggage only to discover that her precious gems were gone! She sifted through everything again and again, maybe just maybe but alas! Nothing. She frantically thought back to her day, realizing to her chagrin, that she never took the items off the train! Realizing that, in all likelihood a bag of diamonds in a non-jewish train in a populated city being returned she just through her hands up in despair and cried. The loss would wreck the business. In addition they would owe thousands of ruble.
(note to the reader, a ruble is a form of money thats value changes in every story. At times five hundred ruble is a million dollars. Sometimes even more. This Im sure, just added to the womans stress)
In a last ditch attempt to save the business she contacted the town rav to make an announcement in shul. Imagine her amazement when one of the congregants came forward with the bag! What wasnt so amazing, was the fact he wanted to keep it. "Didnt the rav teach us that in a place there is mostly non-jews it is non-obligatory to return, just going liphnim mishuras hadin. Well my family is starving, and I cant afford the luxury of being so righteous!" (Note to reader, this is not so pashut. According to Shach who paskens like the Mordechai, this IS an obligation) Though the Rav wanted to help, what could he do?
The shaila reached the desk of the great Reb Yitzchok Elchonon Spektor. Reb YE inquired who owns the business? The lady answered that her husband technically owned it, though she ran all the sales. RYE said, if so the money is not the finders. Since your husband did not know of it he was not meyayesh, only you. You had no right to be meyayesh. Its not yours to give up hope on.
Rabbosai! How many of us here want to give up! Our neshama is not ours to give up on!
