Hey, hope everybody's doing well.

B"H, back from Florida. How did I do? Well, unfortunately, I was around unfiltered devices/internet fairly often (in addition to seeing pretty girls wherever I went)...AND I STILL DIDN'T FALL EVEN ONCE!! CLEAN FOR THE ENTIRE TIME!!!

Needless to say, I'm pumped. Now at 13 days clean, and feeling terrific. BE"H, it should continue this way.

Hope everybody else is doing well. Hatzlacha to all.

Amazing!!

Re: Summer: The Ultimate Battle 21 Aug 2022 17:54 #384974

I fell. Was lusting and fantasizing constantly throughout Shabbos, was up late on Motzaei Shabbos (bored and tired, terrible combination), and fell via pictures and reading horrible things for quite a while. Worst fall I've had in a while. Feeling quite down about it now, and still lusting significantly.

However, I am leaving to EY in a couple of days (I'll be home for Sukkos), and simply need to stay clean until then. But that's proving to be much harder of a challenge than I thought, as the Yetzer Hara is seemingly getting in every last obstacle in my way while he still has the chance. To make matters worse, without going into details, my parents insisted that I take an old filtered smartphone to EY with me (and then leave it at a relative's, not C"V take it to Yeshiva), but I know how to get around that specific filter. Even if it's only temporary, I understandably don't like the idea of having a potentially unfiltered device on me as I go to Eretz Hakedosha.

Need to bear down, grit my teeth and get through this last week before the Z'man begins in order to get off to a terrific start to my EY career.

Hope everybody is doing well. Hatzlacha to all (including me!).

Not sure if this can work for you but perhaps You can forget the phone by accident…

The Battle of the Generation by Hillel S. has been a huge help for me.  Message me to find out how you can receive a free copy.

some of the experiences I write about may make it easier to identify me.  This is ok.  I trust that if anyone discovers my identity they will keep it to themselves.  If you do realize that you  know me, I am completely comfortable and welcome you acknowledging me and my struggle in person.

Or can you have someone else put on a password that they will only tell your relatives in Israel?

Did you ever read The Battle of the Generation? I just seate started it, maybe the beginning would help your perspective. Instead of being worried, be excited by the challenge you were gifted...

Unfortunately, I see why they're insisting I take it-I need to be able to contact my relatives in EY to arrange transportation from Ben Gurion to their place, and the international SIM card doesn't work on my (dumb/flip) phone, so this one is necessary.

Not Shayach, for the reasons stated in the post above.

Yes, I have read TBOTG. It's excellent, excellent, excellent.

if you found it to be excellent, i suggest you keep reading it.  the more times you read it, the more the lessons will be internalized. Just a little bit every day will help you maintain a healthy perspective.

You can write down their numbers and then borrow a phone in the airport. Basically everyone in Israel has like unlimited minutes so happy to lend you their phone for a call.

Also, depends where you are going, but some can easily be explained in advanced. Feel free to pm me.

If it's a temporary problem, go for a temporary solution. You know how you can take on something for the aseres yemei teshuva you couldnt do for  a longer period (or so I've heard)?
A promise, a knas, extra walls, whatever it takes. just keep telling yourself, it's just until X.
And like Frank.lee says, it is pretty easy to borrow a phone here. If your parents are still hesitant,  keep your phone in your luggage, not your carry-on, then borrow in the airport.

Greetings from the Eretz Hakedosha!

B"H, I'm in Yerushalayim at my relatives on a clean streak. The phone ultimately did not turn out to be a problem, B"H, and I look forward to going into Yeshiva on Sunday R"C Elul on a high note and hitting the ground running. I will add that this computer I'm currently using (belonging to and at my relatives) is unfiltered, so I need to keep my guard up, but I'm not overly concerned as it would be enormously stupid and risky to fall on a computer that belongs to someone else.

I will obviously be in Yeshiva for most of my time here in EY, but I'll be at my relatives periodically and will check in/update then B'li Neder.

Hatzlacha to all.

While it costs money, a better option in Yerushalayim is a filtered Choshev. There are places with privacy.
