I don't if anyone has followed the news but it's now public knowledge that a prominent rav stepped down from his position in an organization due to a scandal involving his phone sex conversations with a woman he was guiding through geirus as he was also setting her up to be intimate with men. I am guilty of listening to the phone audio conversations on the internet and I am very much heartbroken and disgusted that such a thing could happen, that a rav who it seemed was trusted by gedolei-Yisrael, a rav who wielded such influence on others, could be struggling with arayos like this. But then I thought, how are we different. We each have our own struggles in these areas. The difference is our doesn't usually involve such a massive public chillul-Hashem. May it never come to that.

I was thinking that in shamayim there's a different kind of news report, announcing our daily victories.

If this entire posting is inappropriate/lashon hara then I apologize and please take it down.

I would like just to say Dont jump to conclusions. Audio tape today means absolutly nothing. Speak to rage im sure hell back me up on this. I happened to know alot of inside info and it seems more and more each day that this story IS NOT TRUE!!!!!! Now im not saying there arent lessons to learn from such a story but we as erlicher yidden are mechuyav to be dan lekaf zechus. And i dont think an audio tape can remove that chiyuv. So lets be careful about who we accuse and what we accuse them of.

The lesson her with the rov is an important one.

The lesson is that no one, absolutely no one, gets a free ride from the yetzer horah.  Anyone who drops their gaurd is at risk. Eevn a prominent rov and talmid chochom is capable of the these types of averos.  Its easy to say that he was a hypocrite and a fraud.  The truth is that like all of us he was tested and failed. 

We are the lucky ones.  We did not have suffer a public embarrassment in order to wake us up.

I wish the Rov much of luck in his recovery.  I wonder if there is any way to introduce him to GYE.

ooops, my bad, I must have forgotten she's just a shiksa and he's a rav, so he must not have done anything wrong. It must not be his voice. All the endearing names he called her and all the things he said he'd wanna do to her, yep, must have all been edited and fabricated. My bad. Of course, she's just a shiksa after all...... score one up for defending the rabbanim who prey on the innocent, whether it's women trying to convert or molesting teenage girls. I was once an NCSYer and was personally mesmerized by one Rabbi Baruch Lanner. That name ring a bell anyone? People like you reacting similarly to him FOR YEARS, defending him and not his victims. All the stories of the teen girls he touched... for years people in our community "judged him favorably", dismissed it, while he continued to destroy lives. Keep up the warm and fuzzy acceptance people! Especially in this case, because after all, she's just a shiksa.

My point is that a recording is absolutly no proof. im not sainy hes innocent im just saying we can give every jerk out there the benegit of the doubt but when it comes to a rabbi hmmmmmmmmmmmmm then he definitly did something wrong.

Whats even more troubling about the tape is that the discussions between the parties cleary reference other participants that are allegedly frum.

We are the lucky ones.  It seems like there are many out there struggling with many nisyonos that are oblivious to GYE.

Somehow we must continue to spread the word.  We can change the world!!
