I love to play chess. It's not single player, but you can play online in safe sites. It really exercises your brain.
I use lichess.org or chess.com
I usually play blitz chess, so it's 5 min total for each player. A match usually ends in 5-7 mins.
There are a lot of introductory chess videos and you can play against the pc if you will.
I also like to play "go" (japanese board game), but it's not so popular, so you don't have many good websites.

Be careful though chess.com has ads on the side that could be troublesome whereas I believe lichess is more laid back (not positive bc I only use chess.com)

That being said chess is great because it sharpens the mind too so ur not just "killing time" or something.

Im also very willing to create an anonymous account and have some matches lmk if anyone's interested
Think about how good you'll feel if you say no to desire and compare that to how bad you'll feel if you say yes.

Desire is unique in the way that it is never fulfilled -  if you give in the desire comes back even more powerful in just a few days. Telling yourself that its ok because this is really the last time doesn't work because you are just adding new images to your head that will cause future falls.

The Joy of triumph over the yetzer hara is worth the effort it takes to win. It IS worth it! Keep fighting!

Sorry about that, I've used chess.com only a few times and didn't even notice that. Lichess is the website I always use. As far as I know it's completely clean of ads. In fact I think that's why it's .org, it's kinda like a non-profit and relies on donations.
But again, like you said, chess really sharpens your mind. I have the lichess app and do some puzzles daily.
In fact, it's very good for when I have urges. Kinda mind numbing.

I happen to be a huge fan of guitar playing----ive been playing for twenty years and for me its a great kosher release of tension and anxiety------if you can learn to play an instrument id highly recommend it, there's nothing like it

Can anyone recommend a single player board game they enjoy?
Thanks!

There are a tons of them! I'd start by finding one that matches one of your interests. What kind of things are you into? Sports? History? Fantasy (the clean kind I mean)? Like I said, there are tons of them!

btw, if you want to browse for them by yourself in a store I think the best one to find them in is in Target in the Toy section. Keep in mind: these games are more expensive than games like Monopoly or Candy Land (usually around $20 or more) but it's possible to get better prices online. Interesting fact: any game that's made to be played cooperatively (AKA Co-op. Basically instead of playing against another person you and other people play against the game itself) can also be played by yourself! The most famous example of a game like that is "Pandemic " but something tells me that might be a game you'll want to wait on for awhile!
