Would one be allowed to sit on a soaking wet metal or wood or plastic chair on Shabbos, or would this be forbidden because he would thus be "laundering" his pants or because he might come to squeeze out his pants?

A related question: If one was walking to shul on shabbat, and it rained, and you got wet trousers, would you stand through the whole shul service, or would you sit and wait for the trousers to dry off?
