i recognize that the dreams do not mean that anything will happen in the future...when i ask for meaning in dreams its not like, what is the prophesy in this dream..prophesy is for fools and children and i aint no child...i mean, like, what do these silly but horrifying dreams mean to id, ego and super-ego...

i think that an israeli's answer to all of lifes problems is throw more schwarma at it and see what happens...a deranged sort of twilight zone trial and error....

For various reasons, this fool has looked into dreams a little.

Im not offering any interpretation but wish to share an up side to down dreams.

Chazal say (think Brachos but can find out for you if you really need me to work) that one who doesnt have a bad dream once a week is a rasha. One who has only good dreams is a rasha. And vice versa. Seems the reasoning is that bad / scary dreams are a kapara. A rasha doesnt 'deserve' the kaparah in this world, rather, will have to really experience the things in the next. A zaddik or beinoni suffers via the dream and doesnt need more.

And for those who are suddenly wishing they were RATM and suffering scary lions because "I never have bad dreams, so remember, most of us dream and dont remember any of it in the morning. Our poor partners who were kept awake with the tossing, turning and whimpering probably havent forgotten though!

Hope Im not misquoting; its been a while since I learnt this stuff.

btw, i believe that when chazal said that today prophecy lies only in children and fools i dont believe that what they meant was the commonly understood meaning: that only children and fools get prophecies...i think they meant only children and fools believe in prophecies....

last night's dream:

i am walking near Penn Station in New York City and I run into the president of our shul. He is walking a small shih tzu. (to the best of my knowledge, not a person in my shul has a dog). I see him and say, "hey, i see you have a shih tzu. in my opinion the shih tzu is the dumbest breed of dog. theyre no smarter than goldfish." (whichis my actual opinion about shih tzus). Mr. K then starts crying hysterically saying that he loves the shih tzu and the shih tzu is all he has anymore. Then this hoorible realization that Mr. K's wife has just died or is about to die descends upon me. (to the best of my knowledge, his wife is perfectly fine). I wake up.

Even nevuah dreams have an element of shtus in them. Always.

The dog is dumb, the dream is a siman of long life to Mrs K!
