Having a wife as an accountability partner 08 Mar 2013 19:45 #203252

I am currently struggling with all the issues this website deals with. I have accountability software on my computer and my wife can see everything that I do on the computer. My issue is that on the one hand my wife is the person I am most ashamed in front of, yet on the other hand my wife being a woman just does not get the struggle at all. Any thoughts?

Having your wife see your computer activity is one thing, and probably OK (as long as she's not busting you left and right for porn ).

Making your wife your accountability partner in other aspects of this addiction is not a good idea for many reasons, and this has been discussed at length many times on the forum.

It didn't really work for me to have my wife as my accountability partner. She only ended up checking the report every so often so that tempted me more than once to delete the email report from her account.

(Can someone say dishonest?)

If you are looking for a deterrent, Covenant eyes, web chaver etc. is great. If you are looking to force yourself against your own will to refrain from porn, you will be sorely disappointed by the results of your efforts. (At least that's the way it worked with me).
