As we all know,Hashem's love for us is like a parent's love for their child.
I believe that all of us have a child in us who lacks trust and security in the world and in Hashem.
I feel that children's books really put the idea of unconditional parental love ina beautiful way sometimes.
I therefore ask everyoen to dig into their kid's books collections at home and share any insights they might have had in these books.
I will start us off:

There is a book called the Runaway Bunny
A young bunny decides one day that he will run away from home.
Mommy Bunny:If you run away,I will run after you.For you are my little bunny.
Little Bunny:If you run away after me,I will become a fish and will swim away from you.
Mommy Bunny:If you become a fish,I will become a fisherman and I will catch you,for you are my little bunny.
Little Bunny:If you become a fisherman,I will become a flower and hide in a garden and you will not be able to find me.
Mommy Bunny:If you became a flower,I will become a gardener and I will pick you,for you are my little bunny.
Little Bunny:If you become a gardener,I will become a rock, and I will sit on a humongous mountain and you will not find me.
Mommy Bunny:If you become a rock on a mountain,I will become a rock-climber and I will come find you,for you are my little bunny.

And so on...

Many of us are familiar with this book.
Hashem is our Daddy.
We can run away from Him.
But He will come look for us.
For we are His little bunnies.
And He wants to be with us.
And He wants to hold us.
Will we let Him?

i love that story!
i always related to the kids from the cat in the hat who make a huge mess and by the time their mom comes home it's all clean. then she asks the kids what they did that day. "Well, what would you do if your mother asked you?"
my mother doesn't know about my addiction bichlal!

i hate that book.
my mother's really overprotective, so whenever i read that book to kids i always feel like tearing out my hair.
stop following me already! I need some space too.

but Hashem doesn't follow me around, making me nervous. Hashem is just a constant rock, always there, waiting for me to return. He doesn't nag at me, He doesn't chase me. He knows that it is best for me when i'm close to Him, and He only wants whats best for me. but because He created me, He knows how to help me come close to Him, and He gave me mitzvos. sometime He sends me letters reminding me He's there, waiting for me to return. sometimes these are punishments, sometimes they are nisyonos, and sometimes they are 'hugs'.

but i really HATE that book.

How about couderoy- the teddy bear with the lost button? noone wants to buy him cuz he's damaged and then this really sweet loving girl buys him cuz she loves him anyway and sews him on a new button. how's that for unconditional love?

Ok this isnt a book
its a movie.
but its a childrens movie so i think it counts
Lion King

Scar (bad guy) sets up a situation where his brother, the king, would be led to his death.
That indeed is what happens. And as Mufasa is hanging by the cliff about to fall to his death,he cries for his brother to save him.Scar grabs him and says "long live the king" and throws him to his death.
At that moment Mufasa realizes (albeit a bit too late) that scar is the one who set this whole thing up and he put his trust in the worst person(lion) possible.
Chevra this is us.
The yetzer puts us in a bad state, depressed, lonely, whatever.
Then he says come to me I will help you.
And he throws us off the cliff.
That **&^%*!!
We must understand that he set this whole situation up.
How ironic would it be to go to him for salvation?!!?
We must turn to those we know forsure that we can trust
Our friends at GYE,our accountability partners(everyones gotta have one at least),sponsors, and of course...HAKADOSH BORUCH HU!!
If only Mufasa would have cried out to Hashem, maybe hed still be with us today
...(lost in my own disney dreamworld).....
Love from the Disney...uh i mean...Holy Land

i wanted to mention here (even though i already did on trying's thread) that i think "A little Princess" is a fabulous book and an awesome distraction if needed!
Sara, the heroine, is born into a privelaged lifestyle- she's rich as a real princess. She's sent off to boarding school by her doting widower father. She's treated like royalty by miss Minchin, the principal/headmistress. All the snooty, rich kids love her. then her father dies and leaves her peniless. Miss minchin and the snooty's desert her. she is made to be a scullery maid, lives in the attic with rats, and is sent out on demeaning errands. only 2 girls- the ones who seemed simple at the beginning of the story- remain her loyal friends. Sara pretends she is a princess and acts with regality, kindness, and calmness in every situation. she sees the positive in every situation and determinedly continues her studies late after the rest of the school is asleep.

i love this story! it's such a moshol for us and i can't help thinking of miss minchin as the y''h! first, she seems kind and friendly and offers us pleasures and comforts. Then, he turns his back on us and we see what he really is- a 2 faced menuval!

If we could all only remember that Hashem is our king and we are indeed all princes/princesses!
