To be a Sofer STaM, you have to be creative and talented. Yet its these types of people who have the worst problems with imagination, curiosity, etc.

Any one out there who is a Sofer who has struggled with this? Perhaps its similar to baalei tefillah for the Yomim Noraim, where your issues may interfere with the kedusha meant for others....

Im not sure halacha is what I am asking to know about, as I'll probably get 23 psaks form 13 people.

Maybe I just want to know if anyone out there has struggled with the added guilt of saying 'Hareini Koiseiv Leshem Kedushas Mezuzoh" at the same time they are still on and off yenne Zach....

It's almost a job requirement that Sofrim go to Mikvah frequently, so people do expect them to conduct themselves with a basic degree of Kedusha.
Just as an alcoholic needs to avoid that first sip, a lust addict needs to avoid that first slip.Slip today? No way! ;)Fall today? No way, Jose'!

Yosef was noting that what I had written was a play on words to my GYE username.  I'm not a sofer and I'm not aware that Yosef is either.

the reason i started to learn safrus in the 1st place was to keep me busy.
there are times that instead of acting out i go and write instead to keep me busy.

One problem is that once you get the hang of writing, it is basically a physical work with  the mind wandering away. There are many Rabanim who advise to listen to shiurim when writing. If you can find that it doesn't cause you to make mistakes. You should shut the tape or cd before writing a shem. I find that listening to a shiur (easy listening) helps me focus better, plus You fill your mind with positive messages and real substance.
