I just did a cheshbon looking at one bank account of mine that I spent approx $3,026 going to mekomos metunafos over the last year!!
How could I be so blind. It is amazing to me that the yetzer is so strong that I could blow so much money and not even make a cheshbon!! The irony is that I thought in my head that I was going less than in previous years. I must have thrown away over $50,000 over the last 10 years. Imagine how that could have made a difference in the life of my wife and kids. I wouldn't have to always say no when the kids want something. Imagine how much tzedokkah I could have given. OY!!!
The harder thing to do is to make a cheshbon of time. How much time have I wasted in the last year. Almost every day, several hours.
Woe is me. How can these things be recaptured!! What a tremendous BITUL !!!!

Interesting Cheshbon! I too probably blew that kind of serious money over the past 10 years on all sorts  of Aveiros and could have spent that money better on Tzedakah, taking care of my family etc.

HOWEVER, think of it this way:

Since when we do Teshuva M'Ahava, our Zedonos get turned into Zechuyos, then so too all the money we spent on Aveirah gets turned into money we spent on Tzedaka and Mitzvos!

If that is the case, we gave so much Tzedaka over the past few years! It is the Zechus of all that Tzedaka that has helped me, you and so many others turn our lives around and become better children of our  Father in heaven.

Don't  let the amount of money (or anything else) get you down! Aderabah! Be B'Simcha for how far you have come in such a short time!
