Hi
I have recently bought a smart-phone but was using the internet to access inappropriate websites...

I had the phone for two weeks but just returned it and instead got a simple phone without internet.

I thought I would feel good about this but instead I feel depressed. It feels like Yidishkiet is so restrictive!
I really liked that phone but wasn't allowed to keep it....

this morning on CBS 880am someone commented about the experience of upgrading from a regular cell phone to an Iphone. he said it was like getting married, it changes your life and it will never be the same again.

sounds like he is a bit enthusiastic about his electronics.

while i might react the same way given the opportunity, it seems to me, as someone who has a regular cell-phone, that if a box of circuitry that costs $400 is comparable to getting married then his life desperately needed an upgrade and he took the easy way out and upgraded his cell-phone.

reb Tried, what you did is great, pat yourself on the back. it is hard to release the temporary pleasure in exchange for a true value. but you won't regret it. you will be happy and proud. if not today then maybe tomorrow. or next week.

ashrecha!

You're doing the sober thing only because of Yidishkeit?  Doesn't it suck being an addict?  I'm not belittling your sacrifice.  I'd love a toy like you had instead of my boring dinosaur phone.  Please remember, life is sweet.  Hashem knows what truly makes us happy and wants to give it to us.  In this world and the next.

You'll get over this.
