The greatest Mazel Tov is the fact that when we get lust under control our marriage is often on a much higher plateau!!!

The more we work on ourselves and stay with the GYE chevra, it overflows to other areas too

so

KEEP ON TRUCKING with ribbons on front!!

Real Simcha, with a name like yours I would've thought you have great Shalom Bayis.

I'm really sorry to hear it's not doing so great

And positive communication is crucial in any relationship and for sure in marriage! You may appreciate this post

Welcome

Do you have Ruach Hakodesh???

Because I am working on a nice piece to explain the whole topic, and it's not gonna go to print on my thread "Mark of Torah" till I have it all clear (the perfectionist that I am)

But since you asked I'll quote the first paragraph from that incomplete lecture, here goes

-------------------

I viewed porn. Am I normal??
We all have a lust beast inside us of various viciousness - Theres at least 2 general groups;
1) Small growl: When confronted with porn, the beast attacks
2) Huge growl: When anywhere the beast attacks

Who has the first beast? All men, without exception
(There's a negligible minority that is an exception)

There was a Sage called Reb Amram Chasida ("Pious Amram") in the Gemara (kiddushin 81), that was normal like this. When he was alone with some eye catching women his beast gave him unnatural adrenaline to access them, until he defeated the beast with a "partner call". R Meir too...

btw your friends - some may not be honest on this, and some not have come across porn, like yourself hadn't

Keep on Trucking, and if you have a moment pls read pg of my story

I have a random question,
Am i dreaming or this addiction is harder then other ones, for e.g. smoking, i know many guys who stopped smoking and of course it was hard for the first while but eventually they have no problem. Why is it that lusting is so much more difficult  then that? Is it because there are more triggers or its much more psychological then other addictions?
Anyone have an opinion?

Hi Sasha!

I can deliver some sources from the gemara, rishoinim and achroinim about this question.

However, just like the mashgiach of this forum said and you agreed upon, it doesn't really matter and it might actually hurt the sobriety.

We might say "Well, it's not problem if I act out, this is a hard thing to do anyway" or "It's human nature".

The main thing we have to do is KOTTCWLWOAOW (Keep On Trucking The Chasidisher Way Litfisher Way Or Any Other Way)

Sounds like you're doing great,  and that you have a good perspective.

I am in no way saying that spending alot of time on gye is not a helpful thing.  On the contrary,  it is a great idea,  keep it up.  You are gleaning chizuk and that is great.

I'm just saying that day counting is not a big source of strength for lots of folks,  it is just counting the cash flow,  but the cash flow doesn't make the cash flow,  the work makes the cash flow.

So keep it up, reading,  posting, sharing,  asking,  whatever you find gives you chizuk.

Hatzlocha
Keep it up and keep on trucking

Keep on Trucking is a standard gye refrain everyone repeats, which I use a little more liberally to advertise the Free Towing

My friend struggling, if you are counting days only, I personally don't think that's considered trucking, rather more like ticking - watching the clock tick - or rather a bomb ticking, tick tick...

Explode... BAM!!!!

I don't think you want to go down that road on your bike

so whats the plan?

Posting daily is one. anything else?

Wow, seven whole days without acting out or viewing inappropriate material!
B"H during most of the day today I felt like I didn't need or want to act out. It felt great and exhilarating. In the evening I felt the usual urges but with Hashem's help I was able to ignore them. Of course, I know that I have a long way to go to enjoy a lust-free life. But it just shows you that if you take one day at a time, it certainly adds up.
כל טוב and have pure dreams.

Wow, Great! seven WHOLE days, i remember clear as day my first week clean and how excited i was about it! Keep it up or as Markz says "Keep on trucking

Welcome welcome! Your determination is incredible, if you keep it up than you will get there.

We have been down the road of "I already got this under control dude, I don't need anymore help" and we all got our fan belts snapped afterwards.

It's great that you are doing this to have a better relationship with your wife, it will be better if you do this to have a better relationship with yourself and Hashem, but the bottom line is keep on trucking with a good fan belt.

KEEP ON TRUCKING

By:bardichev

This dvar Torah is dedicated to my good chver Zemiros Shabbos

May he see bracha vihatazlacha in all his endeavors

The place:Somewhere near Egypt

The time:chol hamoed
Pesach

The yidden are trapped in the deset

The Egyptian Cavalry all of it and all their legions. The entire Egyptian army are bearing down on the Jews
The jews are between a rock and a hard place

The only place they can go is forward

Slight issue homo-sapians are not amphibians.

What is there to do

No retreat
No where to turn

So the Jews do what Jews always do they pray!

Gevaldiggggg??

Nisht!

Hashem says why are you screaming

??

Speak to the people and tell them to get moving

YAYISOO-ee (vayisa-uu)

KEEP ON TRUCKING!!

Fregt bards

What was wrong with prayer?

There is  a huge lesson here

Huge

When facing a personal challenge

We can't say

I tried

I cried

I prayed

No no no

Do something posotive

Drive forward

Even if it means jumping into the sea

Vayisa-uu!!

Too often I see here on the forum. People are haunted by their own demons

Leave them behind you!! Ayyy they are chasing you?! Just keep on trucking!

Of course tefilla!but like Hashem says tefilla plus action

Like the Rupshotzers kugel

The rupshizer roov reb naftali horovitz talmid of the (chozeh)Lubliner

His rebbetzin was a bit stingy but a big tzaddekes

So she made a small kugel one potato. A small onion.  She put it in the oven. Took out her tehillim and began to daven that the kugel should "gelung"

While she was davening. The rebbe. Grabbed a sack of potatoes some huge onoins a dozen eggs. A jug of oil. Salt feffer ahhh

He added his rebbetzin bite size kugel to a huge kugel for all the chassidim

The rebbetzin finishes davening

Looks into the oven and beams as she says ,
Naftali lOok my tefilla worked!

The rebbe says "yes your tefilla along with my massim tovim"

Keep on trucking

By me, loneliness was the opportunity to act out on my base desires, it wasn't caused by loneliness.
My base desires are under control so loneliness doesn't exacerbate anything.  Am I saying the same as you?
Probaby not - just thought to share

Keep on Trucking even when all alone, were with you!!!

Thanks Markz. Loneliness for me was both a cause and an opportunity. Feeling disconnected from my wife has always fed my desires. But I suppose this is not true loneliness, as although she is away I don't feel disconnected at all. Our relationship B"H is growing stronger.  It was much worse if she simply went bed upset with me.
