whats wrong with a slip?

who said you won't slip?

I slip?

everyone slips

most people do worse they fall

I fall

most people fall

even david hamelech fell

yes he did

it is open in tanach

and david hamelech talks very openly about it

look up tehilim perek 51

of course the gemara tells us

david sinned only to teach teshuvah to the individual

what i want u to realize

yiddishkite is not a all or nothing religion

there is no 3 strikes your ou rule

we all slip

we all mess up

we all pick ourselves up

and bounce back stronger and better than ever

i dont know your individual situation

but being mechallel shabbos is a act of throwing out the babay with the bathwater

hashem is a loving father not a scary monster trying to make our lives difficult

know that realize that

one day at a time

if u did 31 once u can do it again

no sweat

we all  need siyatta dishmaya

Welcome aboard.

I thought I'm the only one up this late

You already have a good head start with 2 weeks under your belt, stay strong and Guard Your Eyes!

Have you read the handbooks and the 12 step material yet? There's lots of ideas there, you will probably find a lot of concepts that will motivate you. You can then decide if you want to do a phone conference, or just participate in the forum, whatever will keep you motivated to stay with the program and reaaly work on changing yourself from the inside out. And don't keep worrying about "someday i will fall" that can become a self-fulfilling prophecy CH"V. That's why we say "One Day At A Time".

Hatzlacha and Keep On TruckingTM (do you know what that means yet?)

Gevura!

Pure Yid,

Sounds like you have a good understanding of your Y"H's tricks regarding trying to turn you negative.

I'm with Gibbor on the chilul Shabbos thing, though.  Unless you know something we don't.

Chasdei Avos

cominghome. You are giving me so much chizuk just reading about your continued perserverance.  A friend recently told me that there is nothing more that the yetzer hara wants then for us to get down and dwell upon a stumble in avodas Hashem. The yetzer hora  cares more about the after aveira then the aveira itself.  My friend told me to pik myself up, do an honest teshuva, and just move forward.  As they say here, keep on trucking. we all fall, and of course we need to do teshuva.  Perhaps part of the teshuva is not letting ourselves get down after a fall.  that is not avoidas Hashem, but avodas Hayetzer hora.

You are doing amazing.  This is definitely the place to let loose pour out feelings and read stories and struggles of strength.

By the way, I found that after long enough of being clean, the desire for shmutz gets much much less.  That is not to say that we can sneak a peak or let our guard down ( i learned that the hard way) but there is what to look forward to.  I never in my life felt so free as the time that I was clean for a long time.

You will bezras Hashem be there soon.

rebbe b, permit me to use your comment as a springboard for an idea

coming to GYE to fight lust and leaving with a doctorate in zoology and a certificate in gastrointestinal research in hungarian food among many other sundry topics is possibly a good thing. maybe even a great thing.

if we sit all day and focus on not lusting... chances are we will end up exactly there.

it's a delicate balance. if we focus on it too much we lose. and if we don't focus on it enough we lose as well.

when we are in the mud and desperate to get out all we see is the mud. when we shake loose a little and stay clean for a while we see that there are more dept.'s in the store called life. not just mud or mud prevention.

so let us continue talking about slivovitz recipes, paraoh's birthday, possums, cholint, hovercrafts, shalom zachors and wooly mammoths. and keep on trucking!

lechaim yidden!

Sounds like someone was immersed in the chinuch this past Shabbos (must have been while rocking the baby to sleep):

וכענין שיאמרו החכמים שרוב ההרגל הוא מה שאחר הטבע, כלומר כי כמו שהטבע יכריח האדם למה שהוא מבקש כן ההרגל הגדול חוזר בו כעין
טבע קיים ויכריחנו ללכת בדרך ההרגל לעולם, ובלכת העם בדרכי היושר והאמונה ובוחרים בטוב תדבק בהם הטוב וישמח ה' במעשיו

As Bards puts it FELL SCHMELL.  ;D A filter is a big step.

Hashem's light is everywhere, they say, even in the smallest part of us, I hear. We are thus like a lighthouse, bur being a lighthouse can be very static, unless you have wheels (like the ice cream truck).

So keep on trucking and the light will go right through and shine on everyone around you.

Hey, baby steps count too.
