Hey Silentbattle,

Things have been hectic in a good way! Today, I had the first signs of success in something I've been working on for the past two months.

I hope you've been well.

TC and let's keep on trucking. Btw, why do we say trucking? All things considered, I'd much rather be Ferraraing.

Regards,

DesertLion

That's it?!?!?!

You kept yourself clean for three weeks! That's incredible! How many seconds is that? Every single second that you held yourself back, you got an incredible connection to hashem, and that doesn't go away! What you built, remains!

It seems to me like the yetzer hora saw you starting to build something beautiful with your wife, and he wants you to have a hangover...

Connect with your wife! Keep on trucking!

Kollel Guy

When I leave this environment, my need for pornography goes way down.
Have you been away for a few months at a time to be able to say for certain that pn becomes less of a problem?
I would venture to say this is more like wishful thinking. I find it very common for the Y"H to push off something I need to do now, with the reasoning of "It is only a problem because of your current situation, as soon as you leave - so will the problem". Not surprisingly, almost 100% of the time, the problem would not go away with the change of scenery as I expected it would.
I think what helped me most here, was the realization (which I still have to work on) that I should only consider my current obligations, and not be concerned with the obligations I will or will not have with the passage of time. If I have to do something now - this is my work set up for me.

But not looking is really hard. Any tips on that?

Advice on how not to look?
Well, that's simple but not easy. I personally was not able to do it successfully until I found a sefer which gives step by step instructions on how to keep your eyes kadosh. And even after that, when I forgot to keep it up - I slipped right back.
It basically goes through a few very practical techniques everyone can use, and although he definitely was not writing for someone on a college campus or the like, it should be equally as effective.
It's called Vihaer Eineinu, check out this thread rehab-my-site.com/guardureyes/forum/index.php?topic=1342.0 on how to get it.
Good luck, and Keep On Trucking!

My understanding, like you said, is not that it's fun and games (or gumballs and rainbows. Personally, I like the texture of gumballs better than rainbows, those get stale quickly).

Imagine...a person lives his whole life involved in the wrong things, connecting to the wrongs things, making himself into a non-spiritual person. So he comes to heaven, and he's face-to-face with the reality of the life he wasted, the opportunity he had, what he could have gotten - closeness to hashem - and he fully understands how great that is. And he has nothing, and it's totally his fault. No excuses. The shame, the hurt, the feeling of loss are incredible. And keep in mind - firstly, because everything is so clear, this is far beyond even the strongest feelings of embarrassment that we've had in this world. Plus, embarrassment is an emotion, and os in this world, it's limited by the physical body. In the next world, we have an infinite capacity for spiritual feelings...which include things like emotions. Infinite embarrassment...I can see how that might be compared to a fire.

If moving is an option, you might want to look into that. Otherwise, in the meantime, keep figuring out how you can connect to the right things - sounds like you're already doing a lot of that!

Sounds like good plans overall - I was talking about plans as far as this struggle, but glad to hear about plans to go to E"Y - it's a great place! I was there for a few years, so feel free to PM me if you want some ideas on different yeshivos, or even just some cool people to go to for shabbos!

As far as learning, that's always a good thing - but I meant, as far as what you've learned in your research on time management. Please share with us any ideas you've seen, and maybe we can gain from them, too!

Keep on trucking - a great idea! But have you ever seen what happens when an 18-wheeler just drives straight? We need to make sure that we're staying on the road, and avoiding traffic (and the occasional goat). So sometimes it helps to plan out what you'll do when you're faced with a test. And to do that, you need to figure out when tests usually show up. And what happens, what kind of feelings, what does the voice of addiction  (aka, the yetzer hora) say to you? What do you usually respond? Etc, etc - and speaking all that out can be helpful.

Absolutely! have a great shabbos, and keep on trucking!

You are truly incredible - I hope you realize that!

You don't need anything super-complicated, there should be freeware programs that'll lt you mix a few tracks.

As for a mic, you could get one for a few dollars, probably, or buy an mp3 player that records well. I use an ifp-series Iriver, you could probably get one for about $15 on ebay - the recording quality is great!

Mazal tov - no matter what happens, you've taken a huge step forward, creating a major distance between you and this disease, and you've taught yourself that the yetzer hora has no hold over you!

Just remember to take it minute by minute and stay positive.  Try and take things slow and not get overwelmed with everything you think you should be doing.  Giving all to G-d and living and a support system are all things you have been working on.  Go back and read your thread!!!  I know you can do it!!  Keep on trucking!!!  It's the only thing you can do!!  I'm here for you my friend as are many others.
