Yes, I'm definitely shepping Nachas! This is something I've wanted to do for a long time, i.e. to have GYE members make their own little SA meetings. The best would be if you guys would read some excerpts from the
Big Book and
the White-Book together each time, and discuss... But even if you don't, simply getting together and sharing your sturggles and your Tryings - (and your uri's) and offering each other advice, support and hope, is HUGE.
Kol Hakavod guys! You've set a precedent that I believe will become BIG one day. You are the
Nachshonim of GYE :D
The next step is to actually agree to meet at set intervals. This will put pressure on you all to advance in recovery, so you can share your progress at each meeting, and not want to let down the chevra... It will also lend more power to the whole idea. Way to go guys. You are setting a path for others to follow!
P.S.
The 12 Steps & 12 Traditions is also great literature to read together (just replace the word Alcohol with "Lust")... Oh, and how could I forget the GYE handbooks?
So here's an idea for the meeting, each Motzai Shabbos:
1) Refreshments, small talk...
2) Sturggle reads an excerpt from the White-book and/or the 12&12. Discussion.
3) Refreshments
4) Imtrying reads an excerpt from the GYE handbook, discussion...
5) Refreshments
6) Uri plays a song or two on the guitar, for just a few minutes...
7) 3 hours and 5 cups of Woodford later, Uri shares some divinely inspired insights that came to him... something about control and trust, of-course...
8.) Group hug.
9.) Wobble home
