Oh... I'm sorry... I meant the invite works.. In terms of google voice... I've been using it for over a year, in Israel .. incoming and outgoing works of course - call america free unlimited over voip from israel. See my previous post for a link on exact howtos for setting this up. If you need clarifications feel free to ask.

I should have some extra invites, if anyone needs - but one quick question, Ano - I understand how making calls using Google Voice is free, since I'm calling the number. But incoming calls, even if they're calling my Google Voice #, still show up as the caller's number (or their google voice number).

So that, presumably, would be just like any call from that number...no?

I still dont get this thing at all.... ??? ??? ??? How do I use it (I have a number)? If I call someone does it show up as my google number, original number, restricted, etc? CAN I call someone from a phone with my GV?

Well, let's say I set up my cell phone as the number that my GV# connects to. So when I call my GV# from my cell phone, it lets me access my messages, and make calls - from what I've seen, if I'd call you, the number that would show up on your caller ID would be my GV#.

This is the way it works, very simply:

When someone call your GV#, it forwards it to wherever you'd like. Cell, home, work, whatever... HOWEVER, ALL THE CALLER KNOWS IS YOUR GV#.

To make outgoing calls, You tell GV the # you want to call, then GV calls you first, and when you pick up, you hear the ringing of the other persons phone. Since GV called both of you to connect the call, the other end ONLY knows your GV#.

To make an outgoing call you can do one of the 2 things:
1) use the website to input the # you want to call as per the above.

2) Call your GV# from your designated forwarding # (say your cell is where it forwards too, then from your cell) and then press the option to "make a call" then put the # you want to call - GV will connect the call and show them ONLY your GV#.

Thanks for putting it into lamens terms for us technologically illiterate people. That was really helpfull BecomeHoly. Ive had GV for a while and didnt know how to use. Now I'll give my number out to people that want it.

Unfortunately this wont work for me because I do not have that feature on my phone plan. Apparently it doesnt come with all plans. I guess you need to get a minimum of a certain amount of minutes for my carrier. :'( :'( :'(
