What is "long term" sober?

Sobriety that is measured as multiples of years.

I know that such sobriety exists. I have friends who had very low bottoms & they are sober for many years.

If I find someone who is sober 16 years & says that admitting powerlessness has brought his sobriety & serenity and closeness to Hashem; then I see someone's posts claiming to 'know better' how the REAL way to become a good clean Jew, but he is sober only for 40 days, WHOM SHOULD I LOOK UP TO? Who's derech should I try to copy?

....especially if the long-term sober guys sound much more humble than the other guy.

In other words, should I rather learn from a bunch of humble guys' personal experiences or one arrogant guy's ideas?

another reason i didn't want to get into it is because the one before it is better, since the otiyo sofiyot match as well
