Let me share with you a story that happened this last Shabbos in the morning.

I’m walking to my Bais Homedresh, I see a yid that walks with difficulty, he seems to have a walking problem, he is not walking straight, I have no idea who he is, he walks pretty fast. All of a sudden he fell down to the floor BADLY, we call it Bepishit Ytudiyim Vrogliyim. I thought he might be embarrassed, so, I didn’t run over, I was waiting to see how he’s doing. I see him, picking up his shtrimal, put himself in order and he tries to stand up, but, he can’t, he tries again and he can’t. I ran over to him asking, do you need help, he replied, yes, so, I’m trying to help him, but, even with my help, he couldn’t stay up, with hoshem’s helps, another yid walks by, sees the situation, ran over to help. Together, we picked him up, he was able to stand up and continue to walk.

Now, imagine this yid on the street, I’m sure it’s not the first time he fell, as he really has a problem with his walking, he could have decided, I fell already so many times, that’s it, I stay here, I can’t pick my self up. Anyway I might fall again, I’ll rather remain on the floor, I’m not going to accept help, wouldn’t it be stupid ?, a car might would come later on and drive over him. Instead he said fell-shmell, tried staying up, he couldn’t, he tried again and again, until help arrived, one person helping him wasn’t enough, so, he was willing to accept help from more people until he finally stood up and was able to walk again.

He didn’t find himself back at his house, he was actually very close to the bais homedresh by the time he fell, he just had to pick himself up and walk a little more to reach his destination.

I told this story to one of my friends, and the misar hoskel, (not mentioning GYE, just general ups and downs in Ovodes Hoshem), so, he tells me, I think I know this person, I saw him already falling once, and my friend asks, why doesn’t he walk with a walker ?. I start to think to myself, he is right, if a person falls again and again, why doesn’t he try a different route, maybe he should try a SA Group, maybe 12 steps.
