there's good news and bad news

the good news is that all this talk about sheidim reminded me of the gemara i once learned
it's on Gitin 66a

the bad news is that sheidim might shadows...
but they don't have shadows of shadows
i never understood what that means
if anyone can explain it in a way that i can understand it i would be willing to reward him with the zechus to be mekadesh levana with the same moon that R' Chaim Kanievsky uses..

ZS, I found this:
“When the sun is low on the horizon in the morning and evening, it causes objects to cast two shadows, a dark one [closer to the object] and a lighter one [farther from the object]. The lighter one is referred to as the ‘shadow of the shadow’” Artscroll Gittin 66a (2) note 25.
So scientifically they have no umbra but do have a penumbra.
OR,
for those that don't believe in them, it can also mean that it could seem so real in your dream that you think it's real.

This is a bit heavy for this thread, me thinks, goes a little too high over my head.

aside for the penumbra, there's also the umbrella, of a similar nature. When the sun is covered by rainclouds that rain forth rain, the umbrella opens up, thereby casting an enumbra AND penumbra on it's holder-psychochemistry, 101.

i still do not understand, why would one shadow be considered a shadow of a shadow, they are two separate shadows, not a shadow generated by another shadow.
additionally, why would sheidim cast one shadow and not the other?
